  • Lady Cougars’ Cooper and Crawford sign with Kansas Wesleyan University

    Two members of the Region VI Champion Barton Community College women’s golf team have made commitments to continue their playing career at the next level. Blakelee Cooper and Kaylee Crawford have both signed to play next year for the NAIA Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes. The duo helped lead the Lady Cougars to both the conference and region crown while wrapping up the season with the highest school finish at the national meet coming in ninth at the NJCAA Women’s Golf National Championship.
  • Barton women’s golf and Teeratrakul make school history at NJCAA Championships

    Inclement weather wasn't going to damper the celebration of the Barton Community College women’s golf team Thursday at the NJCAA Women’s Golf National Championship as the Lady Cougars made school history with a ninth place national finish. With rain moving through the Daytona Beach, Florida, area the final round of the championships held at the LPGA International Golf Club forced the tournament to finalize after three rounds of play. The Lady Cougars three round total of 1074 placed Barton equal distance between eighth and tenth place and set school history with the highest national placing since the tenth placing of the 2006 squad. Freshman Natthakan Teeratrakul earned All-Tournament Team honors with her twenty-five over par 241 and 18th placing to finish the highest in school history. The team effort was also the best Region VI women’s finish since Dodge City Community College’s seventh place finish back in 2005 and the best individual finish since Pratt Community College’s Krystle McCorgary’s eleventh place also occurring in 2005.
  • Consistent Barton women’s golf holds steady through three rounds of the NJCAA National Championships

    Overall consistency has been a hallmark of the Barton Community College women’s golf team under Head Coach Doug Kaiser and Wednesday’s third round of the NJCAA Women’s Golf National Championship held at the LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Florida, was no exception. Shooting a 357 and 359 in the competition’s first two rounds, the Lady Cougars held steady in their ninth overall placing shooting a combined seventy over par 358. Freshman Natthakan Teeratrakul dropped to eighteenth place falling three strokes back from Tuesday’s round to finish with an 82 but remains in contention for the eighteen member All-Tournament Team. Two Lady Cougars improved three strokes from the previous day as Kaylee Crawford fired an 89 to move into a tie for forty-eighth while Blakelee Cooper’s improvement to 92 actually dropped her to sixtieth in the standings. Being tied with Cooper through two rounds, Kara Koepplin’s 95 dropped her into a tie for sixty-third while Madison Walden made the biggest jump of the day shaving off seven strokes to finish with a 96 and move up into a seventy-ninth place tie. Fellow freshman Abbie Thelen completed the Barton six to each have rounds under 100, finishing the course with a 99 to move into a tie for seventy-six.
  • Barton women’s golf team climbs to ninth on second day of NJCAA National Championships, Teeratrakul remains steady at fourteenth

    The Barton Community College women’s golf team made a move on the second day of the NJCAA Women’s Golf National Championship being held at the LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Lady Cougars moved from eleventh to ninth place with a consecutive consistent round of golf shooting a seventy-one over par 359 after shooting a 357 in day one. With two days of competition remaining, freshman Natthakan Teeratrakul held her fourteenth overall standing improving a stroke from the previous day to finish with a 79. Kaylee Crawford was one stroke behind Monday’s performance finishing with a 92 but moved up a spot to tie for fifty-first. Blakelee Cooper dropped a few strokes to finish with a 95 allowing teammate Kara Koepplin’s 93 to catch her for the fifty-seventh placing. Madison Walden rounded out the team with a 103 to remain in a tie for eighty-third place while fellow freshman Abbie Thelen competing as an individual improved by three strokes to card a 97 to move up into a tie for the seventy-eighth position.

    The Region VI Champion Barton Community College women’s golf team began play today at the NJCAA Women’s Golf National Championship held at the LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Lady Cougars are in eleventh place after day one with a sixty-nine over par 357 with three remaining days of competition. Freshman Natthakan Teeratrakul leads Barton tied for fourteenth overall firing an 80 after closing the back nine with a 38. Kaylee Crawford put together two solid nines to finish tied for fifty-second with a 91 while Blakelee Cooper finished strong to come in one stroke behind at 92 to tie for fifty fifth place. Kara Koepplin rounded out the team score with a consistent 47 to finish at 94 to tie for sixtieth overall while freshman Madison Walden ran into some troubles on the back nine to finish in eighty-third place with a 101. Fellow freshman Abbie Thelen competed as an individual shooting a consistent 50 on both nines in her national debut to finish tied for eightieth.
  • Barton women's golf captures second straight Region VI Championship and repeat trip to Nationals

    The Barton Community College women’s golf team won their second straight Region VI Championship today at Hutchinson’s Carey Park Golf Course. Despite teeing off in inclement weather, the field battled adversity to post solid second round scores with the Lady Cougars coming out on top by eighty-eight strokes over second place Colby Community College. Barton shot rounds of 366 and 359 for a tournament leading 725 while Colby posted rounds of 409 and 404 to finish at 813. Dodge City Community College and Coffeyville Community College did not field a complete team but placed four of their five golfers in the top ten. The Lady Cougars, who have won three of the past four region championships, placed five golfers in the top ten which qualifies Barton as a team entry into the NJCAA Women’s Golf Championship held May 12-15 at the LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Florida.

    The Barton Community College women’s golf team leads by forty-three strokes after Monday’s first round of the Region VI Championships taking place at Hutchinson’s Carey Park Golf Course. In high wind conditions, Barton shot a team score of 366 through the first eighteen holes to lead second place Colby Community College’s 409 as conference co-champion Dodge City Community College did not field a complete team. The Lady Cougars, who won the last two conference meets to Dodge City for the conference title, are seeking their second straight trip to the NJCAA Division I Championships if able to hold the lead. Play resumes on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with a final round of eighteen holes.
  • Lady Cougar golf team wins consecutive conference title, Teeratrakul takes home individual honors

    Leading by four strokes heading into Tuesday’s final round, the Barton Community College women’s golf team took care of business in winning the Colby Women’s Invitational at the Salina Municipal Golf Course in Salina. Barton shot a team score of 343 on the final eighteen to easily distance second place Colby Community College’s 394 as the Cougars were aided in the by the withdrawal of a Dodge City Community College player due to illness. The Lady Cougar’s victory tied Dodge City in the season’s conference race at three team titles each thus creating a sharing of the conference title and securing Barton’s second consecutive crown. The Lady Cougars will begin preparation for a possible third straight trip to the national championships as they will compete April 28-29 at the Region VI Championships at Hutchinson’s Carey Park Golf Course.

    The Barton Community College women’s golf team leads by four strokes after Monday’s first round of the Colby Women’s Invitational taking place at the Salina Municipal Golf Course in Salina. Barton shot a team score of 166 through nine holes to lead second place Dodge City Community College’s 170 and third place Colby Community College’s 197. The Lady Cougars, who have won the last two conference meets, can tie Dodge City for the conference title if able to hold onto the lead through the final round. Barton will go for the share of the conference crown in Tuesday’s eighteen holes set to tee off at 9:30 a.m.
  • Sherman wins first collegiate tournament, Lady Cougar golf making a run for conference championship

    The Barton Community College women’s golf team stormed back into the conference race Sunday at the Lady Cougars carded a twenty-five stroke victory in Conference Meet No. 5 held at the Emporia Golf Course. Originally scheduled for twenty-seven holes, weather conditions prevented the teams from finishing the final nine holes giving the Lady Cougars the meet shortened victory. Sophomore Maddie Sherman won her first collegiate tournament firing an 84 as Barton took the top three spots in a conference tournament for the first time in school history. Natthakan Teeratrakul’s 85 was one stroke behind while Conference Meet No. 4 Champion Kaylee Crawford finished in third with a 90. Barton shot a combined 354 with Dodge City Community College, whose No. 1 player did not compete, finishing in second place with a 379 while Colby Community College’s 413 placed third.
  • Crawford wins first collegiate tournament, Lady Cougar golf settles for second

    The mountain was too steep for the Barton Community College women’s golf team to climb Monday as the Lady Cougars had to settle for second place at the Barton StoneRidge #4 Invitational at StoneRidge Golf Club in Great Bend. Trailing by twenty-two strokes after Sunday’s eighteen holes, the Lady Cougars played much better on day two but so did eventual champion Dodge City Community College. Despite howling winds in the two-day event, the Lady Conquistadors scored a 188 on the last nine to widen the margin as Barton came in at 188. Colby Community College, forced to play without their No. 1 golfer due to illness, started the day eight strokes behind the Lady Cougars but carded a 229 to fall forty-nine strokes back. Dodge City finished the twenty-seven hole conference tournament at 549 while Barton scored a 579 with Colby finishing third at 628.

    With teams battling less than ideal wind conditions, the Barton Community College women’s golf team struggled the most trailing by twenty-two strokes after Sunday’s first day of the Barton StoneRidge #4 Invitational played at StoneRidge Golf Club in Great Bend. Barton shot a team score of 391 through eighteen holes to trail first place Dodge City Community College’s 369 and just eight strokes better than third place Colby Community College’s 399. The Lady Cougars, who won the first conference meet of the season, have finished second to Dodge City in the last two conference meets. The teams will return to the links on Monday for nine-holes beginning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
  • Kaiser signs three local golfers to join 2014 Barton Women’s Golf team

    Barton Community College Head Women’s Golf Coach Doug Kaiser announces the signing of three local student-athletes to NJCAA Letters-of-Intent. Great Bend’s Kalee Maneth will join Larned’s Brittany Skelton and Hoisington's Presley Smith to play for the Lady Cougars during the 2014-15 season.
  • Lady Cougar golf falls short in final day, take second to wrap up fall season

    The Barton Community College women’s golf team finished second in the conference’s final meet of the fall season earlier this week at the Coffeyville Country Club. Playing their second tournament within three days, the Lady Cougars were tied with eventual winner Dodge City Community College after the first eighteen holes but couldn’t overtake the Conquistadors on the final nine. Dodge City went on to win the tournament with a 541 with Barton finishing eleven strokes back at 552 followed by Coffeyville Community College’s 626. Four Barton golfers cracked the top ten, three coming from the team entries and one from individuals. The meet wrapped up the fall portion of the schedule with Dodge City winning the last two of the three meets after Barton captured the first. The Lady Cougars will resume competitive play March 30, 2014, when Barton hosts the fourth conference meet at The Club at StoneRidge Golf Course in Great Bend, Kansas.
  • Blustery conditions doom Lady Cougar golf, final charge comes up short in Dodge City

    The Barton Community College women’s golf team couldn’t overcome the obstacles in the conference’s second meet of the season this past Sunday and Monday. Facing very windy conditions at Dodge City’s Mariah Hills Golf Course, the Lady Cougars struggled to adapt and fell to tournament host Dodge City Community College by eight strokes. Barton dug a nine-hole deficit to trail by twenty strokes, making a final eighteen charge but came up short to fire a 571 to Dodge City’s 563. Six Barton golfers cracked the top ten, four coming from the team entries and two from individuals. The Lady Cougars won’t compete again until October 18 in Valley, Nebraska, before beginning the conference third meet of the season on October 20 in Coffeyville, Kansas.

    The Barton Community College women’s golf team began the 2013-14 season right where it left off from last season, in first place. However the victory didn’t come easy at Colby’s Meadow Lake Golf Course as the Lady Cougars needed a comeback to win the Jayhawk Conference’s first meet of the season. Barton trailed by five strokes after Sunday’s eighteen holes of competition but put together solid rounds during Monday’s nine hole round to win by three strokes. Freshman Natthakan Teeratrakul led the charge capturing first place as the Lady Cougars had four individuals in the top ten.
