Blustery conditions doom Lady Cougar golf, final charge comes up short in Dodge City
The Barton Community College women’s golf team couldn’t overcome the obstacles in the conference’s second meet of the season this past Sunday and Monday. Facing very windy conditions at Dodge City’s Mariah Hills Golf Course, the Lady Cougars struggled to adapt and fell to tournament host Dodge City Community College by eight strokes. Barton dug a nine-hole deficit to trail by twenty strokes, making a final eighteen charge but came up short to fire a 571 to Dodge City’s 563. Six Barton golfers cracked the top ten, four coming from the team entries and two from individuals. The Lady Cougars won’t compete again until October 18 in Valley, Nebraska, before beginning the conference third meet of the season on October 20 in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Natthakan Teeratrakul rebounded from a disappointing nine-hole round to post a final eighteen 88 to finish in 2nd place. Teeratrakul's 88 tied for the best final round along with Dodge City's Jodi Saito. Kara Koepplin finished with a 144 for 8th place while Maddie Sherman and Abbie Thelen finished tied for 10th with a 148. Blakelee Cooper rounded out the Lady Cougar team posting a 150.
Kaylee Crawford led the Lady Cougars competing as individuals, finishing in 6th place with a 139 while Lindsey Placke's 142 was good for 7th place. Also competing as an individual, Madison Walden carded a 152.
