Barton women’s golf and Teeratrakul make school history at NJCAA Championships

Inclement weather wasn't going to damper the celebration of the Barton Community College women’s golf team Thursday at the NJCAA Women’s Golf National Championship as the Lady Cougars made school history with a ninth place national finish. With rain moving through the Daytona Beach, Florida, area the final round of the championships held at the LPGA International Golf Club forced the tournament to finalize after three rounds of play. The Lady Cougars three round total of 1074 placed Barton equal distance between eighth and tenth place and set school history with the highest national placing since the tenth placing of the 2006 squad. Freshman Natthakan Teeratrakul earned All-Tournament Team honors with her twenty-five over par 241 and 18th placing to finish the highest in school history. The team effort was also the best Region VI women’s finish since Dodge City Community College’s seventh place finish back in 2005 and the best individual finish since Pratt Community College’s Krystle McCorgary’s eleventh place also occurring in 2005.
