  • Barton Men's Tennis finishes twenty-first in nation

    The No. 16 ranked Barton Community College men’s tennis team finished twenty-first in the nation at the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Championship held this week in Plano, Texas. Returning to the national tournament after a year removed, the Cougars concluded play Thursday evening but had to wait until the tournament wrapped up play on Friday to secure their placing one spot ahead of their 2015 championship appearance.
  • Four Cougars advance to semifinals, Barton Tennis moves up to 20th

    The dust has settled after three days of competition in Plano, Texas, with four flights remaining intact for the No. 16 ranked Barton Community College men’s tennis team in the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Championship. Sending six into Wednesday’s round of play, the Cougars had four survive and advance to climb in the team rankings two spots to 20th. Barton will resume their quest for a back draw championship with semifinal action beginning with three singles matches at 11:00 a.m. followed by their lone doubles team remaining slated for a 2:00 p.m. first serve.

    The No. 16 ranked Barton Community College men’s tennis team completed the second day of play in Plano, Texas, with six flights intact in the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Championship. The Cougars dropped seven spots to 22nd, suffering three season ending losses, but will send six to Wednesday’s back draw in elimination play.

    The No. 16 ranked Barton Community College men’s tennis team began play today at the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Championship in Plano, Texas. The Cougars came away from day one’s action in 15th place with a victory in the No. 1 doubles match as Barton dropped six of its other seven scheduled matches for today. Barton will send two flights to the court on Tuesday for the first time, being joined by in the second round by the doubles team, with six flights beginning their quest for a back draw championship.
  • No. 16 Cougar Tennis battles on region's second day to earn berth to nationals

    The Barton Community College men’s tennis team knew going into the final day of the Region VI Championships their season was on the line battling for a national tournament berth. Having dropped all its nine matches in the first round on Saturday, the No. 16 ranked Cougars returned to the courts at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Sunday winning eight of their nine matches to finish third overall. The nation’s No. 4 ranked Seward County Community College ran away with the title capturing eight of the championship matches for a total of seventeen points with second place No. 9 ranked Cowley College scoring ten points having pulled the upset in the No. 1 singles match. The Cougars finished a distance third with four points while Hesston College garnered a .5 point with their third place win at the No. 4 singles.

    The No. 16 ranked Barton Community College men’s tennis team wrapped up the regular season on Tuesday, dropping a 9-0 conference loss to No. 9 Cowley College at Great Bend's Veteran's Memorial Park tennis courts. The Cougars will take the next ten days trading the competitive court to the practice court in preparation of hosting the Region VI Championship April 22-23.
  • Navarro knocks off nationally ranked player, No. 16 Cougars go 1-2 against ranked opponents

    The No. 16 ranked Barton County Community College men’s tennis team went 1-2 this weekend at the Seminole State College Dual Match Invite held at the Oklahoma Tennis Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Cougars began the weekend on Friday with an 8-1 loss to No. 3 ranked and host Seminole and a 5-3 loss to No. 12 Jacksonville College before concluding with a 5-4 win over No. 20 New Mexico Military Institute. Now 6-7 on the season, the Cougars return to conference action on Tuesday in welcoming No. 9 ranked Cowley College for a 1:00 p.m. duel at Veteran’s Memorial Park tennis courts.
  • No. 16 Cougar Tennis splits matches on Monday

    The Barton County Community College men’s tennis team split a pair of home matchups Monday at Great Bend’s Veterans Memorial Park tennis courts. In the morning action, the No. 16 Cougars opened conference play taking on the nation’s fourth ranked Saints of Seward County Community College losing 8-1 before capping the day with a 7-2 defeat over Iowa Central Community College. Now 5-5 on the year, the Cougars will head south to Oklahoma City for the weekend participating in the Seminole State College Dual Match Invite held at the Oklahoma Tennis Center.

    The No. 16 ranked Barton Community College men’s tennis team improved to 4-4 on the season with a 6-3 victory Saturday at Great Bend's Veteran's Memorial Park tennis courts over NCAA Division II Colorado Christian University. Barton returns to the Vets Park courts on Monday for a pair of matches, beginning with the conference opening match versus No. 4 ranked Seward County Community College at 9:00 a.m. followed with a 3:30 p.m. non-conference match against Iowa Central Community College.
  • No. 16 ranked Barton Tennis takes down Tabor College
    March 16, 2017
    The No. 16 ranked Barton Community College men’s tennis team came out on top in Thursday’s action at Great Bend's Veteran's Memorial Park tennis courts picking up a 5-3 victory over Tabor College. The teams split doubles action with Barton getting the benefit of a default in the third double match, then took three of the five played singles matches to earn the win. Improving to 3-4 on the season, Barton will have over a week off from competition before returning to Vet’s Park on Saturday, March 25, for an 8:00 a.m. dual with Colorado Christian University.
  • Weather forces postponement of Barton-Bethel tennis dual

    Due to cold and windy weather conditions forecasted for Saturday, the Barton Community College tennis team’s Saturday dual with Bethel College in Wichita has been postponed with a possible make-up date yet to be determined.
