  • Four Barton Golfers to continue career at four year level

    Four Barton Community College men’s golf team members have signed letters of intent to continue playing at the four year collegiate level. The four sophomores held lead Barton to a 21st place at the NJCAA Division I Championships, the first time since 2006 the Cougars have qualified for the big show. Region VI Champion and NJCAA All-American Jeremie Eloy will take his talents to the northwest signing to play at Warner Pacific College in Oregon while Bryer Livermore and Kyle Hoover will also play at the NAIA level signing with Kansas Wesleyan University. The lone golfer to sign at the NCAA level, Alex Hobelmann will head north to compete at Division II University of Nebraska at Kearney.

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team finished 21st at the NJCAA Division I Men’s National Championship held at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa, this past week. Reaching the national championships for the first time since 2006, the Cougars shot a team combine thirty-nine over par 327 on the final day to finish the four day tournament at 1311.
  • Cougar Golf builds momentum towards final day of NJCAA Championships, Eloy in running for individual honors

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team improved by fourteen strokes from the previous day posting their combined tournament low score of 322 Thursday at the NJCAA Division I Men’s National Championship held at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa. After a disappointing second day where only two players improved their score, the Cougars bounced back having three players improve to better the teams’ best score of the championship by four strokes. Barton will wrap up the national championship with its third straight early morning tee times with launch times off the box scheduled to begin at 8:08 a.m. Friday.
  • Cougar golf slide in second day of NJCAA Championships

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team slipped in the overall standings on the second day of competition at the NJCAA Division I Men’s National Championship held at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa. The Cougars carded ten strokes higher than their opening day score to finish the day with a forty-eight over par 336 to drop to twenty-first place. Dropping from fifth place into a tie for fourteenth, Jeremie Eloy recorded a seven over par 79 as every Cougar but one dropped in the individual standings. Freshman Landon Fox also fell in the rankings to an 81st place tie with an 85 while Alex Hobelmann’s 88 dropped him to 106th. Koby Beougher and Kyle Hoover both improved their second round scores as the freshman Beougher improved three strokes with an 85 to move up to 107th tying Hoover despite an 87 dropping him down the individual standings.
  • Cougar golf makes long awaited trip to Nationals, finishes nineteenth after day one with Eloy in fifth

    Reaching unchartered waters since 2006, the Barton Community College men’s golf team began play in the NJCAA Division I Men’s National Championship Tuesday at the newly opened Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa. The Cougars played the par 72 course to thirty-eight over to finish day one with a 326 to tie for nineteenth place. Jeremie Eloy, who was leading the tournament through nine holes, finished with a one over par 73 to stand in a fifth place tie after the first of four days of competition. Freshman Landon Fox was seven strokes back with an 80 to tie for 47th while Alex Hobelmann’s 85 tied for 90th. Kyle Hoover carded an 88 for a tie for 105th with freshman Koby Beougher two strokes behind in a tie for 109th with a 90.
  • Cougar golf qualifies for National Championships, Eloy wins Region VI title to join Barton history

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team had plenty to celebrate Tuesday at Lawrence’s Alvamar Golf Course as the Cougars qualified for the national championships for the first time since 2006 and added an individual title to the season accomplishments. The Cougars held on to its sixth place in the District III standings to round out the field of qualifiers shooting a 951 for the tournament. Sophomore Jeremie Eloy carded a 75 in his final round to win the first Region VI individual title since Danny Huscroft’s 2002 KJCCC Tournament Championship become only the fourth Cougar to win a postseason individual championship. Steve Gotsche and Matt Murdoch, both former Barton players and coaches, were the other two to accomplish the feat. Eloy also jumped into a fifth place tie in the District standings but lost the playoff to fall out of the All-District III Tournament Team. After finishing the regular season in fifth place, the Cougars also made the move up surpassing its season performance by placing fourth in Region VI. Freshman Landon Fox, who finished in a tie for 20th place in the District standings, tied for 12th in Region VI with sophomore Alex Hobelmann tying for 16th. Barton will next prepare for a trip to Burlington, Iowa, for the NJCAA Division I Men’s National Championship to be held May 11-16.
  • Eloy leading sixth place Cougars after day one of District III Championships

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team sits in sixth place after the second of three rounds of the District III Championships being held at Lawrence’s Alvamar Golf Course. The Cougars posted a first round of 325 then broke out of a sixth place tie by scoring a 311 in the second round to place an eight stroke cushion in the sixth and final position to qualify for the NJCAA Division I Championships. Sophomore Jeremie Eloy leads two Cougars in the top twelve in the individual standings firing an eight-over par 152 in his two rounds, just four strokes out of first place. The Championships will resume for the second and final day’s eighteen holes on Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
  • Fox ties for twelfth, Barton men’s golf finishes fifth at Conference Championships

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team finished in fifth place at the KJCCC Championships held at Newton’s Sand Creek Golf Course. The Cougars posted the fourth best final round score of 308 to finish ten strokes of fourth place. The placing coupled with the solid tournament by Kansas City Kansas Community College dropped Barton to the fifth spot in the season standings, the best since the 2011 season. Winfield freshman Landon Fox fired a team low 75 in the final round to place 12th to lead four Cougars in the top twenty-one of the individual. Barton will next compete at the Region VI and District III Championship April 28-29 at the Championship Course at Alvamar in Lawrence, Kansas.

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team sits in fifth place after the second of three rounds of the KJCCC Championships being held at Newton’s Sand Creek Golf Course. The Cougars posted rounds of 314 and 311 today to draw within eight strokes of third place. Sophomore Alex Hobelmann leads four Cougars in the top twenty individual standings firing a ten-over par 154 in his two rounds tying for twelfth place. The teams will resume the second and final day on Tuesday playing eighteen holes beginning at 9:00 a.m.
  • Hoover finishes 16th, Cougar golf struggles in second round of regular season finale

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team had a rough day at the links Monday finishing seventh at Conference Meet No. 5 held at Junction City’s Rolling Meadows Golf Course. After posting a sixth place 310 in the first eighteen holes, the Cougars scored 322 in the second round to tumble to seventh place at +56. Despite the rough day, Barton remained in fourth place in the regular season conference standings. Barton will next complete at the KJCCC Championships April 21-22 at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas.
  • Cougar golf finish in 4th place to begin spring season

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team began the spring portion of the 2013-14 schedule with a fourth place finish at Conference Meet No. 4 Monday at the Salina Municipal Golf Course in Salina, Kansas. With the meet being limited to only eighteen holes due to weather, the Cougars shot a 296 to finish eight strokes out of third place with two indicivuals cracking the top twenty. For the season the Cougars have a third place finish to go along with two fourth place and one fifth place to rank fourth overall in the conference season standings. Barton will next complete at the Conference Meet No. 5 on Monday, April 7, at Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Junction City, Kansas.

  • Cougar golf finishes 4th place to wrap up fall season; Eloy with consecutive top ten finishes

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team wrapped up the fall portion of the 2013-14 schedule with a fourth place finish at Conference Meet No. 3 this past Monday at The Championship Course at Alvamar in Lawrence, Kansas. Firing a consistent 320 and 318 round scores, Barton had three individuals in the top twenty as the Cougars stand in fourth place in the conference season standings. Barton will be away from competition until March 23 when the conference season resumes at Salina’s Municipal Golf Course.
  • Consistency leads Cougar golf to 4th place finish

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team backed up its strong season opening performance this past Monday at McPherson’s Turkey Creek Golf Course, tying for fourth place in the second Jayhawk Conference meet of the 2013-14 season. Coming off a third place finish in the first meet of the season, the Cougars shot 311 for both eighteen holes scoring a 622 to tie Garden City Community College at thirty-four strokes over par. Barton will have a couple of weeks off from competition before the third conference meet held October 7 at The Championship Course at Alvamar in Lawrence, Kansas.
  • Cougar golf has best placing since 2006, opens conference season with third place finish

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team officially began the 2013-14 season Monday finishing in third place in the Jayhawk Conference’s first meet of the season at Winfield’s Quail Ridge Golf Course. It was the best conference meet placing for the Cougars since the 2005-06 season in which they placed second at the conference’s No. 5 meet held at Pratt Country Club. Barton stood in fourth place after the first 18 holes but moved up to third in the final 18 holes to score a 623, a combined forty-seven strokes over par. Barton will be back on the links September 23 for the Conference Meet No. 2 to be held at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson, Kansas.
  • Cougar golf opens 2013 season with top finishes

    The Barton Community College men’s golf team began the 2013 season today capturing three out of the top four placings in the Dave Dennis Low Ball Tournament held at the Independence Country Club in Independence, Kansas. The Cougars captured the first, third, and fourth place finishes in the two-man low ball tournament used as a tune-up for the conference season. Barton will begin conference play on September 9 at the Quail Ridge Golf Course in Winfield, Kansas.
