Cougar Golf builds momentum towards final day of NJCAA Championships, Eloy in running for individual honors

The Barton Community College men's golf team improved by fourteen strokes from the previous day posting their combined tournament low score of 322 Thursday at the NJCAA Division I Men's National Championship held at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa.  After a disappointing second day where only two players improved their score, the Cougars bounced back having three players improve to better the teams' best score of the championship by four strokes.  Barton will wrap up the national championship with its third straight early morning tee times with launch times off the box scheduled to begin at 8:08 a.m. Friday.

Sophomore Jeremie Eloy jumped back into the running for individual honors shooting a three over par 75 to tie for enter a five man log jam for eleventh place at eleven over par.  Freshman Landon Fox had the biggest jump in the standings as his tournament low three over par 75 tied Eloy for team low honors for the day as his ten stroke improvement from Wednesday's round moved him up into a tie for 67th place.  Like Eloy and Fox, Alex Hobelmann's 81 was a big improvement from Wednesday moving the sophomore up three spots to 103rd place.  Oddly enough, the lone two Cougars who improved on the second day of competition were also the only two to struggle on the third day. Kyle Hoover pulled things together after a tough front nine to finish with a 91 to drop to 110th place while freshman Koby Beougher had a rough seven holes down the stretch to finish with a 95 and drop into a tie for 111th place.
