  • Lady Cougar track and field add four more national championships, place fifth overall at NJCAA Outdoor Championships

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team placed fifth at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships held the past three days in Mesa, Arizona. The fifth place finish follows a fourth place finish for Barton at the NJCAA Indoor Championships held in March. The Lady Cougars scored 51 points as Female Athlete of the Meet Lydia Mato and Agnes Abu won a combined four events with Mato also picking up a second place finish, along with Elizabeth Evans placing sixth to earn Barton an additional three points.

    The Barton Community College women’s team wrapped up the regular outdoor season Saturday as a limited squad of freshmen competed in the Nebraska Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Lady Cougars will now turn their sights to the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships held May 14-17 in Mesa, Arizona.

    The Barton Community College women’s team took home the third place trophy as the Region VI Outdoor Track and Field Championships wrapped up Saturday in Arkansas City, Kansas. After finishing fourteenth at last year’s meet, the young and upcoming Lady Cougars made their mark in climbing to third and also finishing second in the Jayhawk West conference standings.
  • Mato shatters Barton 5000m record

    Freshman Lydia Mato shattered a twenty-two year old school record as the Barton Community College women's track and field team helped christen Rock Chalk Park this past week at the 87th Annual Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kansas. The freshman from Ghana led the final two laps of her 5000m race but was passed down the stretch to finish third in a time of 17:15.36. The effort surpassed the school mark of Rachel Juarez’ 17:32.50 set during the 1992 season. Fellow Ghana native sophomore Agnes Abu also had a good day finishing second in the 800m by a narrow one second margin crossing the line at 2:12.25. Barton will head to Hays next Friday competing in the FHSU Open to wrap up the outdoor regular season.
  • Young Lady Cougars show marked improvement at KT Woodman

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team hit some season bests this past Saturday at the KT Woodman Classic in Wichita, Kansas. The Lady Cougars competed against thirty-seven other college teams and athletes highlighted by the duo of Agnes Abu taking second in the 800m and Lydia Mato crossing the line in personal best time to finish third in the 1500m. Kiana Winston continues to improve in the 100m Hurdles breaking the tape for the second straight meet clocking a personal best, while freshman Elizabeth Evans threw a national qualifying distance in the Discus. Barton will next make its third trip to Texas this outdoor season as the Lady Cougars will compete at the Michael Johnson Dr. Pepper Classic held in Waco, Texas, on Saturday, April 19.
  • Mata and Abu qualify in another event for nationals at Texas Tech Open

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team qualified two more athletes for the national championship this past Saturday at the Texas Tech Open in Lubbock, Texas. The Lady Cougars will compete next weekend much closer to home taking part in the KT Woodman Invitational April 11-12 in Wichita, Kansas.
  • Abu and Mata capture first place as Lady Cougar track and field athletes compete in Texas

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team competed this past weekend taking part in the Bobcat Invitational March 27-29 at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. While part of the team was in Texas, other Lady Cougars competed at the Cowley Tiger Invite in Arkansas City, Kansas, on Saturday. Barton will re-join forces next weekend as the team heads to Lubbock, Texas, to compete in the Texas Tech Open.

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team competed as a split squad Saturday taking part in the Cowley Tiger Invite in Arkansas City, Kansas. Hosted by Cowley College, Barton sent a limited amount of athletes to Ark City while the other half taking part in the Bobcat Invitational in Texas. The Lady Cougars will join forces next weekend as the team heads to Lubbock, Texas, to compete in the Texas Tech Open.
  • Lady Cougars track and field begin outdoor season

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team opened up their outdoor season on Saturday taking part in the Butch Reynolds Invitational in El Dorado, Kansas. Hosted by Butler Community College, Barton took a limited amount of athletes capturing a first place and two second place finishes. The Lady Cougars will split the squad to take part in two different meets next weekend. One group will participate in the Bobcat Invitational March 27-29 at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, while the other group will participate in the Cowley College Tiger Invite on Saturday, March 29, in Arkansas City, Kansas.

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team placed fourth over the weekend at the NJCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field National Championships held at the New Balance Track and Field Center at The Armory in upper Manhattan, New York. The Lady Cougars scored 52 points as Lydia Mato and Agnes Abu won a combined five events with Bethany Bowman placing seventh to earn Barton an additional two points. Mato, who won three distance events, earned the distinctive Female Athlete of the Meet Award after earning two distinctive awards after the Region VI Championships two weeks earlier.

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team placed third at the Region VI Indoor Championships on Friday at the University of Kansas’ Anshutz Pavillion. The Lady Cougars scored 94 points as Lydia Mato won three individual championships and earned the distinctive awards of Female Athlete of the Meet and Female Most points scored. Barton also took second in the Jayhawk West standings finishing with 169 points, just 8.50 out of first place.
  • Lady Cougars track and field compete in Nebraska, add another national qualifying event

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team took a break from competing against NCAA Division I powerhouses in taking part in the Fred Beile Classic on Saturday in Crete, Nebraska. Hosted by Doane College, Barton primarily sent the sprinters and field event athletes as the Lady Cougars added another qualifying event for the NJCAA National Indoor Championships.

    In just their third indoor meet of the season, the Barton Community College women's track and field team continued their improvement this past weekend at the Masked Rider Open held at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The Lady Cougars reached national qualifying marks in six additional events and posted personal bests throughout the day.

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team returns to indoor competition this weekend in the Masked Rider Open held on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The Lady Cougars will be competing on both Friday and Saturday in two days of action at the Athletic Training Center against both four-year and two-year colleges and universities.

    Having improved performances from last week’s meet at Nebraska, the Barton Community College women's track and field team earned two more national qualifying marks as the Lady Cougars completed their second indoor meet of the season on Friday at the University of Kansas’ Jayhawk Classic in Lawrence, Kansas.

    Getting their first taste of collegiate competition, eight of the Barton Community College women's track and field team opened the indoor season this past weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Holiday Inn Invitational held on the campus of the University of Nebraska.

    The young but talented Barton Community College women's track and field team opens the season Friday and Saturday at the Holiday Inn Invitational held on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE. The Lady Cougars reloaded with eighteen new faces for the 2014 indoor season and will be competing in two days of action at the Devaney Sports Center against both four-year and two-year colleges and universities.
