  • Fourth place national finish, Barton's Nelson earns All-American status at USATF Junior Outdoor Championships

    Ricky Nelson of the Barton Community College men's track and field team placed fourth Sunday in the men’s discus throw at the 2016 USA Track and Field Junior Outdoor Championships held in Clovis, California. Outside of the top two USA automatic qualifiers for the World Championships, the returning sophomore from Belleville, Illinois, earned Junior All-American status awarded to the top six placers.

    Four members of the Barton Community College men's track and field team have committed to continue their student-athletic careers at the four year level including three to the NCAA Division I level.
  • Barton track and field with thirty-five All-American performances; tops in Region VI

    The Barton Community College track and field team recorded a combined thirty-five All-American performances recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) by virtue of finishing among the top eight in their events, including as a member of a relay team, at the 2016 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships held May 17-19 in Levelland, Texas. The Cougar men had the third most amongst the teams with nineteen finishing in eight place with forty-two points while the Lady Cougars ranked sixth most with sixteen honors leading to a fifty-two point sixth place national finish.
  • Eight personal best efforts lead Barton men's track and field to eighth place finish at the NJCAA Outdoor Championships

    The Barton Community College men's track and field team placed eighth at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships held in Levelland, Texas. The Cougars earned forty-two points and set eight new personal bests with half its points and bests coming from its freshman class as Barton continued its climb improving six spots from its last year’s outdoor standing.
  • Thirty-four top ten finishes powers Cougar track and field team to runner-up Region VI finish

    The Barton Community College men’s track and field team captured five titles this past weekend finishing runner-up at the Region VI Outdoor Championships held at Garden City Community College’s Broncbuster Stadium. Competing in all but four of the twenty-two events while losing out points in two of the three relays, the Cougars acquired thirty-five top ten finishes in sixteen events during the cold and blustery weekend compiling 149 points coming up shy of champion Butler Community College’s 181.
  • Cougars sprint to three KT Woodman gold titles, set seventeen personal best efforts

    The Barton Community College men's track and field team sprinted to three first place finishes this past weekend in the K.T. Woodman Classic in Wichita, Kansas. The Cougars also had strong overall efforts with sixteen top-ten finishes to go along with seventeen personal best and sixteen national qualifying level performances.
  • Cougars with another strong showing, earn fourteen personal bests in Texas

    The Barton Community College men's track and field team had another solid outing this past weekend in Canyon, Texas, chalking up fourteen personal bests in the West Texas A&M University Classic & Multi event. Adding three first place finishes, The Cougars captured three individual titles amongst their twenty-two top-ten finishes to go along with twelve national qualifying level performances and a school history top-three effort of all-time.
  • Daley breaks ’02 school record, Barton track and field with nineteen top ten performances at Cowley Invite

    The Barton Community College men's track and field team competed this past weekend in Arkansas City in the Cowley College Tiger Invite. Just like their women counterparts, the Cougars sent a number of athletes to the track competing in various events for the first time taking four first place finishes within nineteen top ten placings while recording four national qualifying performances amongst four personal individual bests.

    The Barton Community College men's track and field team put on a show this past weekend competing in the Arkansas Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Held at John McDonnell Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas, the Cougars posted seventeen national qualifying performances to go along with fifteen top ten competing amongst eleven major universities including the No. 5 ranked host Razorbacks and two other top community colleges.
  • Barton Men’s Track and Field continue climb in nation, sixteen All-American performances bring home fifth place finish at NJCAA Indoor Championships

    The Barton Community College men's track and field team continues to climb up the national ranks wrapping up the indoor season this weekend placing fifth at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships held the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Improving in the final standings four straight indoor seasons, the Cougars bettered last year’s seventh place with its highest finish since its national runner-up in the 2012 indoor season. With no individual national champions, the Cougars utilized its depth and solid performances garnering sixteen All-American awards leading all Region VI entries scoring fifty-six points falling just two points shy of fourth place.
  • Barton men track and field team captures Conference title with runner-up region finish; Schenek and Brotherton take home individual awards

    The Barton Community College men’s track and field team captured another conference championship to go alongside a runner-up region finish this past weekend at the Region VI/KJCCC Indoor Championships held at Pittsburg State University's Robert W. Plaster Center. Coming up just five points shy of their twenty-eighth indoor region title to Butler Community College’s 159 points, the Cougars did capture the Jayhawk West championship beating out the Grizzlies by two points 216 to 214 as the two teams dominated the men’s competition. The defending indoor champion Cougars won just two events during the weekend but the deep and talented squad racked up twenty-four other placings including six second place finishes in earning Head Coach David Schenek the Men’s Coach of the Year Award.

    The national qualifying list for the Barton Community College men's indoor track and field team increased by two this past weekend competing in the 41st annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, NE.
  • Eight more Barton national entries added with Cougar track and field performances at UNL’s Holiday Inn Invitational

    The Barton Community College men's track and field team raised their season total to seventeen national qualifiers adding eight this weekend at the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska. Competing against both NCAA and NJCAA level teams along with professional athletes training for Olympic hopes, the Cougars had fifteen top-10 finishes to go along with the national qualifying performances.
  • Cougar track and field earn nine national qualifying performances in 2016 season opener

    The Barton Community College men's track and field team opened their 2016 indoor season this past Friday at the Bill Easton Classic inside Anschutz Pavilion on the campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. Competing against NCAA level teams along with Region VI foe Cowley College, the Cougars had nine performances reaching national qualifying standards.
