The national qualifying list for the Barton Community College men's indoor track and field team increased by two this past weekend competing in the 41st annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, NE.

Jaquez Wilson led the 400m contingent setting a personal record of 48.17 recording the nation's fourth best time in finishing 11th in the fifty-four athlete event.  Anthony Adderly also added his name to the national qualifiers in the event coming in 27th in a season best time of 48.86.  Kadeem Williams rounded out the entries with a 49.38 finishing 36th. 

Three Cougars competed in the short sprint with McKinely West equally his best season time of 6.84 in the 60m and again in the 200m with a 21.86.  Chedlin Sagesse just missed clocking a national qualifying time by .02 in 6.89 while Alexander Richemond came up short of his already qualifying time by finishing in 6.91 as he did in the 200m finishing in 22.07.

In the 60m hurdles, national qualifiers Jermaine Jones and Louis Rivers each had solid days on the track with Jones just missing his personal best with an 8.30 while Rivers bettered his time by .05 clocking an 8.31.

In the jumps Leon Boyd set a personal best increasing his national qualifying long jump mark to 7.22m (23-08.25) to edge out Denroc Dixon's 7.18m (23-06.75) as the duo finished fifth and sixth respectively against the twenty-four other competitors.  Boyd also edged out Dixon in the triple jump with a 14.80m (48-06.75) sixth place leap while Dixon surpassed his previous best mark hitting the sand at 14.75m (48-04.75).  Adama Mbye, who along with Boyd and Dixon already posted qualifying jumps, finished in ninth at 14.50m (47-07.00).

Barton had two entries in the throwing events led by Donald Daley's thirteenth place in the weight throw at 17.86m (58-07.25) while Stevon Crooks finished 21st in the weight throw at 15.34m (50-04.00).

Just like the women did in their 4X400m relay, the Cougars tandem of Wilson, Adderly, Williams, and Richemond surpassed their season best time spinning around the oval in 3:13.88 placing fourth behind NCAA Division I university teams from Nebraska, Texas, and Kansas.

Barton will take a couple of weeks off of competition in preparation of the Region VI/KJCCC Indoor Championships held February 19-20 in Pittsburg, KS.
