  • Gay takes American title, Harris and Campbell-Brown also qualify for World Championships

    Familiar names in the illustrious history of Barton Community College Track and Field had a successful weekend on the track punching their ticket to the IAAF World Championships. Competing in various national championships around the globe, three former Cougars reached qualification levels to represent their country in Beijing, China, August 22-30.
  • Kruse receives national academic award

    In a Wednesday release from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) office, ten Barton Community College student-athletes received NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards, formerly known as the NJCAA's Academic All-American award. The ten Cougars were amongst the NJCAA record 2,036 sophomore level student-athletes to receive the award.
  • Barton’s Lydia Mato named Coaches Association NJCAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Year

    The most decorated Barton Community College women's track and field athlete in school history continues to garner accolades following the 2015 season. Lydia Mato, who captured three titles in season finale NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, was recently named the National Women’s Track Athlete of the Year by United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for NJCAA Division I. The award is the second national award Mato has picked up from the USTFCCCA in its inaugural season having received the same honor for the indoor season.
  • Lady Cougar track and field with sixth place national finish, Mato adds three more NJCAA titles

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team placed sixth at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships held the past three days in Hutchinson, Kansas. The sixth place finish follows a fifth place finish for Barton at the NJCAA Indoor Championships held in March as inclement weather forced over four hours of delays in the meet’s final day Saturday. Lydia Mato won three events bringing her outstanding Barton track and field career win total to twelve national championships as the Lady Cougars scored 45 points which also included eight points from Tamara Style in the 400m Hurdles, four points from Tasha Frazier in 100m Hurdles and Long Jump, and three points coming from the 4X400m Relay team.
  • Lady Cougars capture five titles at Region VI Outdoor Track and Field Championships

    The Barton Community College women’s track and field team captured five region championships this past weekend at the 2015 NJCAA Region VI Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex in El Dorado, Kansas. With fifteen community colleges and over 500 men’s and women’s athletes, the national No. 7 ranked Lady Cougars finished third in the region as a team and second in the Jayhawk West standings. National qualifiers for Barton will spend the upcoming weeks preparing for the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships set to run May 14-16, at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson, Kansas.

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team sent seven women to Emporia, Kansas, this past Wednesday competing in the Emporia State University Midweek Open.
  • Barton women track and field get historical results at John Jacobs Invitational

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team returned to familiar territory of taking on out of state competition this past weekend at the 46th annual John Jacobs Invitational hosted by the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. The Lady Cougars posted four personal best performances with two falling within the top twenty performances in school history competing against four-year colleges and universities.
  • Mato resets school record, Pierce and Tuey highlight Barton women track and field results at Woodman Classic

    Competing in their second straight in-state meet, the Barton Community College women's track and field team competed this past weekend at the 67th annual K.T. Woodman Classic hosted by Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. The Lady Cougars posted six personal best performances and two national qualifying performances while also having a school record reset as Barton competed against fellow NJCAA members and four-year colleges and universities.
  • Nine new personal bests highlight Barton women track and field results at Tiger Invite

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team took another break from a powerhouse meet competing this past Friday at the 12th annual Tiger Invitational hosted by Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas. The Lady Cougars competed against fellow NJCAA members, as well as, colleges and universities from the NAIA ranks. The Lady Cougars posted six national qualifying performances while setting nine new personal best marks.
  • Lady Cougar track and field qualifying seven in outdoor season opener at Alabama Relays

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team opened up their outdoor season this past weekend taking part in the John Mitchell Alabama Relays held in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Held at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium on the campus of the University of Alabama, the Lady Cougars posted seven top ten placings including seven national qualifying performances competing amongst thirty-three major universities including three other community colleges.
  • Mato with historical performance, Lady Cougar track and field place fifth at NJCAA Indoor Championships

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team placed fifth over the weekend at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships held at The Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Lady Cougars scored 63 points surpassing last year’s 52 points being led by Lydia Mato and Vanessa Style combining for five national championship titles.
  • Barton Track and Field garners regional awards

    In its first year of awarding, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently awarded four members of the Barton Community College track and field team with regional honors. Voted and selected by coaches within the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Barton received four of the eight awards for the Central Region.
  • Lady Cougars win conference championship, Mato scores forty-eight points

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team captured its first conference championship since 2009 as the Lady Cougars won seven individual titles Sunday at Manhattan’s Ahearn Arena in the 2015 Region VI Indoor Championships. Easily distancing itself from other Jayhawk West foes to win the conference, Barton nearly pulled the double win finishing second in the Region VI standings. The Lady Cougars finished with 159 points, the most since 2009, finishing region runner-up behind Coffeyville Community College’s 173.
  • Mato breaks record, Lady Cougars get five national qualifying performances at Holiday Inn Invite

    The Barton Community College women's track and field team competed in their second meet of the indoor season this weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Holiday Inn Invitational. Held at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Indoor Track on the campus of the University of Nebraska, the Lady Cougars posted five national qualifying performances and broke a school record while competing against athletes from the University of Nebraska, Iowa State University, Oklahoma State University, Drake University, the University of South Dakota, Jayhawk Conference members Cowley College and Cloud County Community Colleges, as well as, NJCAA rivals Iowa Central and Iowa Western Community Colleges.

    Coming off a fourth place finish in last year’s NJCAA Indoor Championships, the Barton Community College women's track and field team opened their 2015 indoor season Friday at the Air Force Collegiate Open Meet held at Cadet Field House on the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
