  • Barton women’s tennis finishes 15th at National Championship; 2nd straight Top-20 finish

    The Barton Community College women’s tennis team concluded the 2015-16 season Wednesday knowing it had secured its second straight Top-20 national finish. When the dust settled in Tyler, Texas, after Thursday’s final round of the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Championship the Lady Cougars landed in the 15th slot improving from last year’s twentieth final standing.

    The Barton Community College women’s tennis team concluded the 2015-16 season Wednesday in the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Championship held in Tyler, Texas. Tied for seventh after the first day of competition, the Lady Cougars slipped in the standings through four days of competition to a 15th place tie with one remaining day in the tournament guaranteeing Barton a Top 20 national finish.
  • Lady Cougar tennis team qualifies for nationals

    The Barton Community College women’s tennis team finished third over the weekend at the Region VI Tennis Championships held in Liberal, Kansas. Bringing home a second place and six third placings, the Lady Cougars qualified for a trip to Tyler, Texas, May 7-13 for the NJCAA Division I Championship for the second straight year after finishing 20th last season.
  • Sanz knocks off Tigers’ top player, Barton women’s tennis falls to No. 9 Cowley

    The Barton County Community College women’s tennis team pulled off one win but lost the war Monday in Arkansas City as the Lady Cougars were handled by the No. 9 ranked Tigers of Cowley College 8-1 in Jayhawk Conference play.
  • Lady Cougars win second of the week in 5-4 victory over Bethel College

    The Barton County Community College women’s tennis team pulled out its second win of the week defeating Bethel College 5-4 Thursday afternoon at the Ellinwood Grade School tennis courts. Taking a 2-1 match lead after the doubles rounds, the Lady Cougars grabbed the first two singles matches tacking on another late win to capture the victory.
  • Lady Cougars drop conference opener at No. 4 Seward County

    The Barton County Community College women’s tennis team opened up conference play on Tuesday in Liberal as the Lady Cougars were blanked 9-0 at No. 4 ranked Seward County Community College. The talented Lady Saints put the hammering on the Lady Cougars in most of the matches dropping Barton to 1-3 on the season while Seward County stays unbeaten at 14-0.
  • Lady Cougar Tennis falls in home opener

    The Barton County Community College women's tennis team dropped their home opener Friday losing 6-3 to Colorado Christian University. Played at the Veterans Memorial Park tennis courts, the Lady Cougars won two of the six singles matches while winning just one of the doubles matches to even their 2016 mark to 1-1. The Lady Cougars will have a busy week ahead playing three matches beginning with Thursday's 2:30pm dual at Tabor College. Barton will then have a 3:00 p.m. home meet against Fort Hays State University at the Ellinwood tennis complex before a Saturday 11:00 a.m. dual at Bethany College.
  • Sanz comes up just shy of title, Barton women’s tennis at Central Region Championships

    Three members of the Barton County Community College women’s tennis team competed in the 2015 USTA/ITA Central Region Championships this past weekend in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sophomore Daniela Sanz took second place in singles and teamed up with freshman Juliana Seabra to reach the semifinals in doubles. Seabra also went on to take the singles consolation championship while fellow freshman Idah Longwe went 2-1 in singles play. The Lady Cougars continue their fall season with a Saturday, October 3, trip to McPherson, Kansas, competing in the Bulldog Doubles Quad.
