The Barton County Community College women's tennis team dropped their home opener Friday losing 6-3 to Colorado Christian University.   Played at the Veterans Memorial Park tennis courts, the Lady Cougars won two of the six singles matches while winning just one of the doubles matches to even their 2016 mark to 1-1.   The Lady Cougars will have a busy week ahead playing three matches beginning with Thursday's 2:30pm dual at Tabor College.  Barton will then have a 3:00 p.m. home meet against Fort Hays State University at the Ellinwood tennis complex before a Saturday 11:00 a.m. dual at Bethany College.

The Nos. 1 earned each of the three victories beginning with the doubles pair of Daniela Sanz and Idah Longwe defeating CCU's Paige Crews and Maddie Anderson 8-5.

Splitting up to their respective singles' matches, each came away with a win.  Sanz faced Crews for the second time winning 6-3, 6-2, while Longwe took on Katy Balli in the match of the day.  Dropping the first set 6-2, Longwe easily won the second 6-1 before outlasting Balli in the tie break 10-8.
