The 17th ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team struck early and rode a late second half surge Saturday evening notching a 3-0 road victory at Dodge City Community College.

The victory improves the Cougars to 8-2-1 in KJCCC play and 11-2-1 on the season while the Conquistadors drop to 2-9-0 in conference action and fall to 2-9-0 overall.

Barton returns home for their final regular season home game on Wednesday hosting Garden City Community College in a 1:00 p.m. kick from the Cougar Soccer Complex before closing out the regular season Saturday with a trip to 13th ranked Cowley College.

Leading goal scorer Annika Gerdau provided the lone goal of the opening half in the fifth minute lighting the lamp for the 10th time this season. Gerdau carried Marina Angiolini's pass far side blasting a 20-yard missile far post initially setup off Dahien Cabrera's forced turnover.

Escaping a pair of Conquistador threats approaching the midway point of the second half, the Cougar attack caught the Dodge City defense off guard in the 68th minute on a counterattack led by Seulgi Lee's perfect thru ball finding the unmarked foot of Alisia Solis as the Dodge City native's shot attempt bounced off the post and in the nets for her sixth net shaker of the season extending the Barton lead to 2-0.

Just 10:06 later Lee put the final touches on the victory teaming up with Angiolini as the duo connected on a give and go with Lee striking the nets for the seventh time this year.

Reigning two-time KJCCC Goalkeeper of the week Nia Baker and Maria Gutierrez teamed up keeping the sheet clean for Barton's seventh shutout of the season. Baker led the duo with rejected three shots on frame as the Cougars outshot the Conquistadors 20-7 while holding a 14-3 advantage on frame.
