11th ranked Cougars roll to home opening victory in final prep for showdown weekend #GoBarton

The 11th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team jumped out to a seven goal halftime lead before settling to a 12-0 home opening victory over the reserves of Bethany College.

Following the 12th goal and a water break a few minutes later, the game was halted at the 70th minute for player safety as heat and humid conditions were taking its toll on both programs.

Barton improves to 2-0 on the early season with its next contests coming this weekend in Council Bluffs, Iowa, against a pair of top national programs. The Cougars begin the road trip at 1:00 p.m. Friday in a neutral field contest against 3rd ranked Iowa Lakes Community College. On Saturday Barton will get another stiff test against last year's national runner-up Iowa Western Community College at 3:00 p.m. as former Cougar head coach Mike Brown has his Reivers challenging again for the top spot in the preseason 2nd ranked club in the country.

Francesco Esteban posted a hat trick on the afternoon, the first giving Barton its first goal of the afternoon. Vicente Lopez, who dished out the assist to Esteban, scored the next two net shakers with Genildo Postimo also rattling the net twice in beating the keeper once in the first half and the second to begin second half scoring.
