  • Barton's Horsangchai garners PING All-District honors

    Jakkapat Horsangchai of the No. 20 ranked Barton Community College men's golf team was announced Monday as a recipient of the PING All-District III team award. Presented by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), the award recognizes players among the Division I ranks of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
  • Final round charge not enough as Barton men's golf season comes to an end in district play

    The Barton Community College men's golf team concluded the three-day action of the Region VI and District III Championships on Tuesday with its best of three rounds but fell three strokes shy of a possible national tournament berth. The No. 16 ranked Cougars closed with a combined 9-over 297 at Topeka’s Firekeeper Golf Course, placing sixth on the nationally packed leaderboard, finishing their tournament and season with a 943. Needing to at least place ahead of national host Garden City Community College to possibly receive an at-large berth, the Cougars’ year ends with the district finish and fourth placing in the Region VI standings.
  • Barton Golf wraps up regular season at Southwest Kansas Shootout, eyes post-season play beginning April 17

    The Barton Community College men's golf team got a preview Monday and Tuesday of the home of the 2017 national championship, leaving Garden City with work to do if the No. 17 Cougars hope to return. Beginning the fifty-four hole Southwest Kansas Shootout with a respectable 315 team score, the Cougars faltered in the afternoon round at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course with a 320 before Tuesday’s final round of 324 left Barton in twelfth place of the thirteen team tournament which included five other NJCAA ranked teams.
  • Homruen fires 69 leading Barton golf to fifth place finish

    It wasn’t the fact the Barton Community College men's golf team had a bad day on the golf course, but rather the extremely tough fellow conference competitors played a little better as the Cougars finished fifth Monday at the second KJCCC meet of the season held at Wichita’s Terradyne Golf Course. Finishing third in last week’s conference meet, the No. 15 ranked Cougars battled four other national caliber teams finishing eleven strokes out of second place carding a thirty-six hole 606. No. 3 ranked Dodge City Community College ran away with the title with a 576, twenty-one strokes better than runner-up Kansas City Kansas Community College’s 595.
  • Final round charge leads Barton men's golf to third placing in conference opener

    The Barton Community College men's golf team made a second round charge on Monday as the Cougars tied for third place in the KJCCC’s first meet of the season. Competing at Manhattan’s Colbert Hills Golf Course, the Cougars were in fourth place with a cold morning round of 311 before heating up for a final round second best 298 score to catch Kansas City Kansas Community College for the third spot at 33-over par 609.
  • Barton men's golf captures home meet to conclude fall season

    The No. 15 ranked Barton Community College men's golf team broke away from a first round deadlock to win its own tournament Monday at StoneRidge Golf Course pulling out a six stroke victory in the Barton Invitational. Shooting consecutive team 295 score rounds in the 36-hole event, the Cougars out dueled Dodge City Community College in the second eighteen holes finishing at 590 to the Conqs’ 596. The result concluded Barton’s fall season the same as it began, with a victory, as the Cougars won two of their five events while finishing runner-up in one to go along with two third place finishes.
  • Horsangchai leads Barton Men's Golf to third place finish at Central Kansas Classic

    Two themes regarding the Barton Community College men's golf team have emerged in the fall portion of the schedule. First, the Cougars don’t start well but finish strong, and two, sophomore Jakkapat Horsangchai is proving he is a solid collegiate golfer.
  • Cougar golf with final day charge settles for third at KWU Fall Invitational

    The Barton Community College men's golf team made a second day charge but unfortunately the Cougars couldn’t make up the deficit in finishing third at the Kansas Wesleyan University Fall Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at the Salina Country Club in Salina, Kansas. Barton posted a 19-over 299 to trail eventual winner Sterling College by eleven strokes after day one before firing a ten stroke improvement 289 on Tuesday finishing with a third place 588. Sterling took the title improving five strokes on the final eighteen holes finishing with a 571 while fellow Jayhawk Conference member Dodge City Community College was runner-up with a 579.
  • Barton golf finishes runner-up at KCK Invite

    One week after pulling off a comeback season opening victory, the Barton Community College men's golf team’s bid for two straight came up short Monday finishing runner-up at the KCK Invitational. The Cougars trailed Kansas City Kansas Community College by ten strokes after the morning eighteen holes at Junction City’s Rolling Meadows Golf Course but the deficit grew by five additional strokes from the afternoon’s round completing the one-day thirty-six hole tournament at 610 to KCK’s winning 595 score.
  • Cougar golf rallies to season opening victory

    Trailing by six and battling the second day of extreme hot and humid conditions, the Barton Community College men's golf team rallied to a one stroke victory in the Coffeyville Community College Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at Adams Municipal Golf Course in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Led by the 1-2 punch of the Cougars’ top two golfers, Barton opened its 2016 season defeating eight other teams with a 607 score to edge fellow Jayhawk Conference member Kansas City Kansas Community College’s 608.
