Homruen fires 69 leading Barton golf to fifth place finish

It wasn't the fact the Barton Community College men's golf team had a bad day on the golf course, but rather the extremely tough fellow conference competitors played a little better as the Cougars finished fifth Monday at the second KJCCC meet of the season held at Wichita's Terradyne Golf Course.  Finishing third in last week's conference meet, the No. 15 ranked Cougars battled four other national caliber teams finishing eleven strokes out of second place carding a thirty-six hole 606.  No. 3 ranked Dodge City Community College ran away with the title with a 576, twenty-one strokes better than runner-up Kansas City Kansas Community College's 595.

Carding a morning round 76, freshman Thitipong Homruen heated up in the afternoon firing a tournament low 2-under par 69 in the final round in vaulting seven spots in the standings to finish fourth in the forty-four man field at 3-over 145.

Jakkapat Horsangchai also made a final round charge firing a 2-over 73 moving up three spots to 14th with a 9-over 150 combined score.  Seokunh Kang was next in the Cougar finishers posting consistent rounds of 76 and 77 to finish at 11-over 153 for 22nd place.

Posting identical rounds of 80-78, Kylian Cavdar and Riley Kane placed 29th at 16-over 158 while Jaron Kellerman finished 44th at 18-over 178 with twin 89 rounds.
