Familiar names in the illustrious history of Barton Community College Track and Field had a successful weekend on the track punching their ticket to the IAAF World Championships. Competing in various national championships around the globe, three former Cougars reached qualification levels to represent their country in Beijing, China, August 22-30.

In a Wednesday release from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) office, ten Barton Community College student-athletes received NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards, formerly known as the NJCAA's Academic All-American award. The ten Cougars were amongst the NJCAA record 2,036 sophomore level student-athletes to receive the award.

The Barton Community College men's track and field team finished placed fourteenth at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships wrapping up this past Saturday in Hutchinson, Kansas. Completed on a rain soaked Gowans Stadium after four hours of inclement weather delays, the Cougars finished with twenty-eight points as Barton placed in two of the relays while six athletes earned individual placings.

Seven members of the Barton Community College men's track and field team competed this past Wednesday with five personal best performances at the Emporia State University Midweek Open in Emporia, Kansas.

The Barton Community College men's track and field team headed south this past weekend to Norman, Oklahoma, for the 46th Annual John Jacobs Invitational hosted by the University of Oklahoma. Competing against four-year colleges and universities, the Cougars posted thirteen personal best performances with four falling within the top twenty performances in school history.

Competing in their second straight in-state meet, the Barton Community College men's track and field team competed this past weekend at the 67th annual K.T. Woodman Classic hosted by Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. The Cougars posted eleven personal best performances and five national qualifying performances while competing against fellow NJCAA members and four-year colleges and universities.

The Barton Community College men's track and field team took another break from a powerhouse meet competing this past Friday at the 12th annual Tiger Invitational hosted by Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas. The Lady Cougars competed against fellow NJCAA members, as well as, colleges and universities from the NAIA ranks. The Cougars posted seven national qualifying performances while setting fifteen new personal best marks.

The Barton Community College men's track and field team opened up their outdoor season this past weekend taking part in the John Mitchell Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Held at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium on the campus of the University of Alabama, the Cougars posted eleven top ten placings including twelve national qualifying performances competing amongst thirty-three major universities including three other community colleges.

The Barton Community College men's track and field team wrapped up the indoor season this weekend placing seventh at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships held at The Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Cougars’ 4X400 Meter Relay team capped off the 40 points in the meet with a national championship to help Barton surpass last year’s 18 points and fourteen place finish.

In its first year of awarding, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently awarded four members of the Barton Community College track and field team with regional honors. Voted and selected by coaches within the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Barton received four of the eight awards for the Central Region.

The Barton Community College men’s track and field team captured their twenty-seventh Region VI Indoor Championship this past Sunday at Ahearn Field House in Manhattan. The Cougars received a thirty-eight point individual performance but had to win the last race of the day in the always exciting 4X400m Relay to earn the title with 120 points in distancing second place Coffeyville Community College’s 114 points.

The Barton Community College men's track and field team competed in their second meet of the indoor season this weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Holiday Inn Invitational. Held at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Indoor Track on the campus of the University of Nebraska, the Cougars posted ten individual and two relay national qualifying performances competing against athletes from the University of Nebraska, Iowa State University, Oklahoma State University, Drake University, the University of South Dakota, Jayhawk Conference members Cowley College and Cloud County Community Colleges, as well as, NJCAA rivals Iowa Central and Iowa Western Community Colleges.

The Barton Community College men's track and field team opened their 2015 indoor season Friday at the Air Force Collegiate Open Meet held at Cadet Field House on the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
