Barton stays unbeaten with win over Northern Oklahoma Enid
The Barton County Community College men's basketball team moved to 6-0 on the season with a pair of wins at the Cougar Booster Club Classic at the Barton Gym this past weekend. Barton easily won Friday over the Sterling JV, 125-49, then captured a win over Northern Oklahoma-Enid the following night, 92-81. The two games completed the home non conference portion of the Barton slate. The Cougars will be in Norfolk, Neb. Thanksgiving weekend then in Coffeyville for the Jayhawk Shoot Out the following weekend to wrap up play in the 1st semester.

Highlights
Barton took care of business Friday in preparation for what the Cougars knew was a good basketball team Saturday. Barton got off to a slow start Friday, leading just 19-13 with 13 minutes left in the 1st half. That, however, didn't last long as Barton followed with a 20-0 run over the next 4 minutes for a 39-13 lead on the Warriors. That run ended with Barton scoring on 6 straight possessions – the final 3 ending with treys from Chip Steven, Qa'rraan Calhoun and Chris Jackson.

Javon Parris led 7 Barton players in double figures with 23 points, followed by Steven with 20 on 4-of-6 3-pointers. Matt Simmons had 14 points and led Barton with 14 rebounds. Antowine Lamb also had 14 boards off the Barton bench and Steven handed out 9 assists in the win. The Cougars hit 48-of-77 shots from the floor for 63 percent including 24-of-32 in the 2nd half.

Saturday Barton took on an Enid team that had beaten Dodge City in Enid and took the Conqustidors to overtime in Dodge City earlier this week. But Barton took control of the game early behind the hot shooting of Great Bend sophomore Scott Schneider. Schneider hit 4 3's in the game's opening 6 minutes as the Cougars built an early 19-10 lead on the Jets.

Enid was able to close the gap to 28-26 with 7 minutes left but Barton responded with a quick 4-0 run to make it 32-26 and stretch that lead to 40-28 with 4 minutes left. The Cougars led by 12 at half – 46-34 – and Enid never got closer than 5 in the 2nd half. Barton led by as many as 16 points in the 2nd half. Schneider ended the game with 18 points flowed by Parris and Simmons with 17 each. Simmons nabbed another double-double with 10 rebounds as well. Jackson scored 16 in the win and Steven added 11 points and 7 assists. Parris also had 6 assists for the Cougars and 3 steals with just 1 turnover from his point guard spot.
