Hap Dumont Day at Cougar Fields Sunday against Seward County
The Barton County Community College baseball team will host Hap Dumont Day at Cougar Fields Sunday when the Seward County Saints visit Barton County in a match-up of the 1st and 2nd place teams in the Jayhawk West. Admission is free. Game time is 1 p.m.

Youths playing Hap Dumont this year are encouraged to wear their uniform to the game and bring their gloves. After the game they will meet the Cougars, take ground balls, fly balls, play catch and run the bases with the Cougars.

Barton is expected to start its top two pitchers this season in the showdown with the Saints. Ryan Phillips, 6-1 with a 2.09, will start one game and Derek McDaid, 5-3 with a 3.27 ERA will start the other. Phillips leads the Jayhawk West in strikeouts and wins. He has not faced Seward this season. McDaid nearly beat the Saints in Liberal, taking a 2-0 lead into the 5th before Seward scored 4 runs – 3 unearned.
