Joe Pettitt begins his 2nd year as Barton's Assistant Athletic Trainer after arriving to Barton in the Fall of 2012.

Pettitt, a 7-year Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran of the United States Army, came to Kansas from Illinois.   Pettitt started on his path to a career in athletic training at Kishwaukee College (Malta, Ill) prior to attending Northern Illinois University (DeKalb) in 2009.  

This past spring Pettitt completed degree requirements for a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training and successfully completed the National Athletic Trainers Associations’ Board of Certification exam.

While at NIU, Pettitt was provided the opportunity, through athletic training rotations, to work with many of the Huskies’ athletes, along with high school and community college teams.  He served as a medical volunteer at the 2010 Chicago Marathon and the 2011 Men's Health Urbanathlon™.  Since 2011, Pettitt has been a Camp Administrator/Athletic Trainer for high school through college cheer and dance camps across the nation with Varsity Brands, Inc. During the spring semester of 2012, he completed an athletic training internship with Campbell University's (Buies Creek, NC) Division I Track & Field team.
