Barton cross country teams compete at KJCCC/Region VI Championships #GoBarton

On a frigid day in Garden City, Kansas, the Barton Community College cross country teams took to the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in the KJCCC/Region VI Championships. With the women not fielding a complete squad, the Cougar men placed 8th in the KJCCC West Division and 13th in the overall Region VI standings.

In the men's 8k race, the Cougars averaged 33:27 with a combined 2:47.11. Leading the team as he has done all season, Tallan James clocked a 29:15.3 time in earning 30th place in the Jayhawk West and 53rd overall. Nathan Hood was the next Cougar to cross the line coming in 53rd in the West and 88th overall in 31:25.2.

Racing in just his second 8k distance of the season, Mason Yellowwolf clocked a 33:08.0 to lead the final three Cougar entries with a 61st West placing and 102nd overall. Rainier Conley was one spot behind in the West with a new personal best 36:04.2 to slip into the 106th region spot while Javon Patterson rounded out the squad with a 37:17.9 time for 64th in the West and 108th overall.

Men's Complete Results: KJCCC West   Region VI

Cadeebra Calcote led four Lady Cougars in the 5k race placing 37th in the Jayhawk West and 71st overall in the region with a 23:34.3 time. Tia Steward set a personal best time in the distance clocking a 28:05.9 in placing 49th in the West and 93rd regionally. Olivian Jackson placed 51st and 96th with a 28:47.5 time while Jada Whiterock rounded out the Barton entries with a 29:59.2 clocking finishing 52nd in the West and 98th overall.

Barton's next competition will come November 11 at the NJCAA Division I Championships held at the Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
