Goncalves' Chile Pepper finish earns KJCCC Runner of the Week honor for second time

For the second time this season, Mirena Goncalves of the Barton Community College women's cross country team was named the KJCCC Female Runner of the Week as voted by conference coaches.  The freshman from Caracas, Venezuela, earned the week six honor after placing seventh this past Saturday at the 28th Annual Chile Pepper Festival held in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Having earned the week two honor after winning the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic to open the season, Goncalves completed Saturday's 5k race in 17:38.35 to finish as the second NJCAA runner in the field of 315 entrants from both the two-year and four-year levels in leading the Lady Cougars to a 23rd team finish.
