Mato wins College Division and second overall at Woody Greeno Invite

The shorthanded No. 24 ranked Barton Community College women's cross country team competed this past Saturday in the college division of the Woody Greeno Invitational co-hosted by the University of Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan University.  Having just four runners compete in the event, the Lady Cougars competed against 134 other competitors averaging 7:77.6 per mile in the 6k race. 

Lydia Mato continued her amazing season capturing first place with a time of 21:54.90 to average 5:52.70 per mile.  Mato won the College Division by six seconds and was just nine seconds off the top mark set by University of Nebraska's Anna Peer's top time in the University Division.

Holly Pierce was the second Lady Cougar athlete to finish coming in at 27:01.50 placing 78th while Kaitlynn Tuey finished 99th in 28:04.30.  Yazmin Rendon rounded out the Barton entries coming in at 30:15.10 to finish in 120th place.

The Lady Cougars will take a couple of weeks from competition until heading to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Chile Pepper Invitational to be held on Saturday, October 4th.
