No. 8 Lady Cougars set for J.K. Gold Classic

The Barton Community College women's cross country team will compete at their first meet in recent memory as a national ranked team as the Lady Cougars travel to Augusta, Kansas, on Saturday to compete at the 66th Annual JK Gold Classic hosted by Wichita State University.  The Lady Cougars, who checked in at No. 8 in the recently released NJCAA Division I poll, placed three runners in the top ten two weeks ago at the Kings Sandwich Classic in Iola, Kansas.

Standout distance runner Lydia Mato will be shooting for her second meet title of the season after winning and setting a 3k course record at the Kings Classic.  Mato, along with Holly Pierce and Kaitlynn Tuey who finished third and tenth respectively in the collegiate debut, will lead the Lady Cougars against a tough field of four-year and two-year colleges and universities on the hilly Raft Golf Course beginning at 8:55 a.m.
