Women’s cross country winding down regular season with top personal times

The Barton Community College women's cross country team competed this past weekend in the FHSU Tiger Open held in Victoria, Kansas.  Competing among 168 runners, Barton had three freshmen all achieving personal bests in the 5k race.  The Lady Cougars will have one final tune-up before the Region VI Championships competing in the Bethel Invitational October 18th at North Newton, Kansas. 

Tabitha Kim's personal best 21:46.62 led the Lady Cougars finishing in 124th place, surpassing her best time by five seconds. Kim was one of three Lady Cougars to run season best times as Jenna Schroeder was close behind Kim in 128th place, shaving over a minute from her best to finish in 21:50.97. Kaycee Niermeier made the most dramatic improvement coming in at 24:41.80 to surpass her season best by over two-and-a-half minutes in finishing 161st.
