5th ranked Cougars enjoy short night at Pratt; eye key matchup next Wednesday with No. 8 Colby
The 5th ranked Barton Community College volleyball team made quick work on the road Wednesday evening in Pratt earning a straight set sweep over the Beavers of Pratt Community College (25-20, 25-10, 25-15).
Victors of 10 straight, the Cougars remain perfect in conference play at 10-0 and 23-1 on the season while the Beavers fall to 2-7 in league play and 6-17 overall.
Following a weekend away from competition, Barton will return home next Wednesday in welcoming No. 8 Colby Community College in a rematch of last month's top 6 showdown in Colby which the Cougars swept the Trojans (25-23, 25-20, 25-14).
Eight different Cougars recorded multiple kills led by Anna Wierzbicki's nine punishes. Wierzbicki led Barton's .366 attack converting on nine of her 16 swings for a .562 efficiency.
Aubrey Olander led the net play with six blockages, a pair of solo and four aided stuffs, while adding a trio of rise and shines.
Guiding the defensive backline was Mina Kaneko's 14 digs to reach double-digits for the fifth straight match and 15th time in her 24 games played. Naya Danenberg was the other lone Cougar to post double-digit digs with 10.
Maurin Reyes directed the 6-2 offense dishing out a team best 21 off the bench while Elena Stankovic added 17.
Kassidy Nixon turned in an all-around performance with eight kills, six digs and serving up four of the Cougars five service aces.
