12th ranked Barton Volleyball drops pair to national powers concluding Arizona week #GoBarton

Barton Volleyball results from Dalton Overstreet Invitational

The 12th ranked Barton Community College Volleyball team concluded its week long trip to Arizona on Saturday, taking a pair of losses to top ten ranked teams at the Dalton Overstreet Invitational held in Prescott, Arizona.

Barton fell behind No. 2 Snow College 25-14 in the first match of the day, bouncing back to take the second set 25-19 before dropping the final two sets 25-17 and 25-23.

The Cougars jumped out to the match lead against No. 4 Utah State Eastern but couldn't dig the early hole for the Eagles in coming up short 25-23 to tie the match.  Barton took the early lead in the third set, holding on for a 25-23 victory and carried the momentum into the fourth before Utah State climbed back into it.  Addison Crites' block gave Barton a 24-23 match point but consecutive Cougar errors proved costly as the Eagles ended up taking the set 27-25.  In the deciding final set, Barton took the early lead again but Utah State battled back to take their first lead at 13-12.  After fighting off match point, Barton surged back in front earning a pair of match points but couldn't put it away as the Eagles scored three straight to win 18-16.

After fourteen matches including six in the last six days, Barton now 9-5 on the season will have its home and conference opener this Wednesday in hosting Colby Community College in a 6:30 p.m. first serve at the Barton Gym.
