The 12th ranked Barton Community College Volleyball team began its four-day six-match week dropping a pair of tight battles to Glendale Community College and Scottsdale Community College.
Barton opened the southwest trip on Monday night against Glendale Community College, dropping the first two sets 22-25 and 17-25 before taking the third set 25-18. Battling punch for punch in the fourth the Cougars fell on the short end of the stick as the Gauchos claimed five of the final seven points holding off a potential fifth set 22-25.
As if things got easier for Barton, Tuesday evening the Cougars' matched up against DII 6th ranked Scottsdale Community College.
Falling on the wrong side in the opening set 23-25, Barton settled down in the second set knotting up the match with a 25-22 victory before dropping back-to-back heartbreakers 21-25 and 22-25.
The Cougars' drop to 8-2 on the season and will look to bounce back Thursday afternoon as they open the Dalton Overstreet Invitational where they will face Eastern Arizona College at 2:00 p.m. (CT) and 2nd ranked Snow College at 4:00 p.m. (CT). Barton will conclude the invitational on Saturday evening against 4th ranked Utah State Eastern and 16th ranked Yavapai College.
