12th ranked Cougars begin Arizona trip with tough loss to Glendale #GoBarton

The 12th ranked Barton Community College volleyball team faced one of their toughest squads Monday evening, falling on the road in four sets to Glendale Community College 22-25, 17-25, 25-18, and 22-25.

The Cougars suffer their first loss of the season dropping to 8-1 on the season, while the Gauchos remain unbeaten moving onto 3-. Barton will have a quick turnaround in traveling over to Scottsdale, AZ for a Tuesday evening 9:00 p.m. (CT) first serve against the Artichokes of Scottsdale Community College.

A 10-0 stretch midway through the opening set handed the Cougars' their largest lead of 20-17 before the Gauchos grabbed eight of the final 10 points taking a 1-0 match lead.

Despite hitting their highest mark on the night at .312 the Cougars were unable to overcome the hot hitting Glendale squad that converted 17 of their 34 attacks in route to a 25-17 second set victory.

Fighting to keep the match alive in the third set Barton and Glendale went punch for punch up until the 19-18 mark till the Cougars' seized momentum late claiming the final six points extending the match to a fourth set.

Trading the lead back and forth for the majority of the fourth set, misfortune caught the Cougars in the late stages once more with the Gauchos claiming five of the final seven points taking the set 25-22.
