Relays highlight Cougar performances at Jacobs Invitational #GoBarton
Both Barton 4x100m relay teams capture titles.
A pair of first place relay finishes highlighted a small contingent of members from the Barton track and field program competing Thursday in the John Jacobs Invitational hosted by the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
Both of the Cougars' 4x100m relay teams met nationally qualifying times in bettering the field, on the men's side the tandem of Brandon Pemberton, Trevon Hamer, Joshua Mascall, and Wanyae Belle clocked a winning 40.25 time to finish nearly a second faster than the University of Kansas with the women's baton passers of Keliza Smith, Kayda Austin, Kennidra Spigner, and Takeila Williams following the men's race with a 46.41 to edge out Region 6 member Coffeyville by a half second.
In addition to the relays, Barton competed in just seven other events highlighted by freshman Zadie Mackey's personal best discus throw of 45.29m (148-07) in placing 10th overall. Ivanilda Semedo, who along with Mackey are already nationally qualified in the event, placed 6th with a mark of 50.06m (164-02.75).
