Barton women's track and field takes over two national top spots, Green records program 7th best performances #GoBarton

It was quite the trip to southeast Kansas Sunday for the Barton Community College women's track and field team as the Cougars added seven more national qualifying performances competing in the KJCCC/Region VI Invite held at Pittsburg State's Plaster Center.

The day's results featured 13 personal bests led by the 1000m performance from Kayan Green. Running the event for the first time, Green clocked a 2:57.42 time in taking over the nation's top current time by three seconds and recorded the program's 7th all-time best.

Green also later ran the second leg of the 4x400m relay team helping the Cougars to also take over the nation's top spot. Teaming with leadoff Naiya Morgan, Lashanna Graham, and Ashantae Harvey, the tandem passed the baton to a 3:46.21 time to better New Mexico Junior College's 3:47.09.

Harvey also had a solid meet, recording two of the team's new qualifying performances. Setting new bests in the process, Harvey clocked a 25.01 in winning the 200m and added a second place 60m hurdle finish of 8.76 to her three event day.

The Cougars had 15 first time event participants, Green in the 1000 and Graham being another of those by competing in the 600m and claiming a national qualifying time of 1:37.87 in placing second.

Jada Sewell – Shot Put – 4th place, 13.14m (43-01.50)

The Cougars' next meet is February 11-12 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, competing in the Tyson Invitational.
