Graham resets her program record in leading 3rd ranked Barton women's track and field results in New Mexico #GoBarton

The 3rd ranked Barton Community College women's track and field competed Thursday at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open in Albuquerque, New Mexico, hosted by the University of New Mexico.

Taking on numerous four-year, as well as, strong two-year programs in the one-day event, the Cougars posted five personal bests and won two events among their fifteen top-seven placings.

The big initial result coming across the live results was the 400m hurdle finish from Lashanna Graham. Setting the school record earlier in the month, Graham's initial clocking of 57.26 bettered her previous best but the waiting game began for official results. After conversion for altitude adjustment, Graham not only reset her program best but bettered the time by over a second in clocking an official nationally leading 57.37 time.

In the 200m the Cougars took the 1-2-6 slots with Ayesha Nelson's first time in the event produced a winning 24.77 time. Taneka Ballard crossed in second with a personal best 24.96 while Shemia Odaine clocked a 25.78 in placing sixth.

Nelson and Odaine helped Barton to one of the Cougars' three runner-up finishes on the day, teaming with Jayda Dillon and Nia Robinson in clocking a 46.51 4x100m relay time.

Dillon led Barton's trio of 100m entries, tying her personal best of 11.89 to place second, Ballard recording another top personal time on the day with a 12.13 to finish 4th.

Kayan Green, the NJCAA's leader in the 800m, placed second in the event with a 2:11.42 time.

The Cougars split their squad this week with the throwers headed to Hillsboro, Kansas, on Saturday for the Tabor College Invite.
