Graham's record book impact leads fourteen women's track and field national qualifying performances at Cowley Invite #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's track and field team posted fourteen national qualifying performances Saturday competing in the Cowley Invite held in Arkansas City, KS.

The Cougars won eight events during the one day meet, continuing to assault the program record book with seven top ten performances.

Just missing getting into the 400m hurdle school top ten last week, Lashanna Graham jumped into the seventh spot by clocking a winning 1:00.05 time.

Ana da Silva had another big day in the throws, winning two events with record book implications. Already No. 2 on the indoor shot put chart, Da Silva's first meet in the outdoor season produced a program third best mark at 15.27m (50-01.25), while her 56.27m (184-7) hammer throw mark improved her program second best marking by nearly four feet.

Annia Ashley and Nia Robinson battled for the first time in the outdoor season of the high and long jump events, producing 1-2 placings exceeding national qualification specifications. Ashley coming out on top Saturday in both the events, taking the high jump at 1.70m and long jump at 5.94 as Robinson rose to a 1.65m height and flew to a 5.90m distance.

Other event winners were Ashanti Harvey in the 100m hurdles (14.43) and Kayan Green in the 1500m (4:48.02) and the 4x400m relay tandem of Jayda Dillon, Graham, Dayjsha Fanning, and Shemia Odaine clocking a national qualifying winning time of 3:55.48.

Barton will next head to Canyon, Texas for its next meet, competing in the two-day Jo Meaker Classic and Multi on Friday hosted by West Texas A&M University.
