Behind a national runner-up 4x400m relay effort, the Barton Community College women's track and field team concluded the 2018 NJCAA Outdoor Championship in a fourth place tie while chalking up its seventh NJCAA All-America honor.

The Lady Cougars had two sophomores on the 1st Team All-America team with Amanda Carty's national championship in the long jump while fellow Jamaican Fiona Barnes capturing the Heptathlon later that day.

Latavia Maines earned 2nd team status as 1.25 inches separated the Illinois freshman from a national shot put title with the runner-up throw of 16.46m (54-00.00) breaking the school record of Cassandra Lee set in 2003 by over a foot and a half.

Trailing South Plains by two points headed to the meet's final race, the 4x400m tandem of Nijah Roberson, Latoya Stewart, Azan Sargusingh and Cadeebra Calcote crossed the line second to jump into the fourth place tie overall with the Titans in also earning the 2nd team All-America status.

Two sophomores and a freshman landed on the honorable mention list with third place finishes. Short track speedster Keosha Sanders and hurdle specialist Olivian Jackson closed out their Lady Cougar career with personal best as Sanders clocked an 11.33 in the 100m while Jackson's 400m hurdle time bettered her preliminary time in posting a 1:01.36. Shyledeen Smith didn't break her personal best discus throw mark, but still finished off her first year of collegiate competition with a solid 48.32m.
