Barton women's track and field wins four events with twenty-two top ten performances at Cowley Invite

The Barton Community College women's track and field team competed this past weekend in Arkansas City at the Cowley College Tiger Invite.  The Lady Cougars won four titles amongst their twenty-two top ten placings while recording three national qualifying performances to go along with multiple personal individual bests.  

Mahendra McWhite lead the Lady Cougars with two individual titles beginning with clocking the nation's third best 100m hurdle time of 14.16 for a new personal best.  Ed'Quisha Alvin finished third in the event with a 15.07.  McWhite led four Lady Cougars with a top ten finish in the 200m, winning the event in 24.94.  Keosha Sanders' personal best 25.31 grabbed the third slot just ahead of teammate Tiara Williams' 25.32 while Tia Steward placed seventh and 25.93 and Fiona Barnes coming in tenth at 26.38.

Sanders added another third place finishing in the 100m in leading three Lady Cougars in the top ten clocking another personal best on the day with a 12.03.  Williams placed fifth in 12.27 and Amanda Carty was tenth in 12.91.

Carty had a good day on the runway taking home a first and second in the jumps.  Competing in the triple jump event for the first time, Carty marked a 10.62m (34-10.25) to win the event after getting runner-up in the long jump at 5.23m (17-02.00).

The Cougars will next head to Canyon, Texas, competing in the West Texas A&M Classic and Multis held this coming Friday and Saturday.
