The Barton Community College women's track and field team competed for the second time in the outdoor season this past weekend, braving rain and multiple delays at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in the Arkansas Spring Invitational.  The Lady Cougars accounted for five top-ten performances among the NJCAA in earning nine finishes in the top ten amongst the mostly four-year competition. 

Latoya Stewart led two Lady Cougars in the top eight of the 400m dash, finishing third in 55.49 with Chenelle Ricketts placing eighth in 56.52 as the duo's time rank fifth and sixth best respectively in the NJCAA.  

Barton had two more national spotlight performances in the hurdles as Ayesha Champagnie's eight place in the 100m hurdles at 14.64 ranks fifth best while Asjah Wallace's 1:03.34 fourth place finish was the nation's third best 400m hurdle time.  Champagnie added a fourth place in the javelin, throwing 41.79m (137-01), a mark well below her personal best but still good for the nation's second best throw.

The Lady Cougars' next action will come Friday and Saturday as Barton travels to Canyon, Texas, for the West Texas A&M Classic and Multis.
