No. 13 Barton women's tennis drops season opening matches in Colorado
The No. 13 ranked Barton Community College women's tennis team dropped both matches this past weekend to open its 2025 season falling to both NCAA Division II programs Metropolitan State University and host Colorado College by scores of 6-1.
Vania Dotse fashioned the lone Cougar victories on the weekend going 2-0 in singles action and 1-1 in doubles with partner Vitoria Campigotto.
Playing No. 2 singles on Saturday against Metropolitan State, Dotse overcame an opening 6-2 loss bouncing back with a 6-1 victory to force a third set tiebreaker before prevailing in the decisive set 10-3.
Jumping up to No. 1 singles in Sunday's lineup against host Colorado College, the freshman disposed the Tigers' Avery Hickman in straight sets 6-2 and 6-1.
Despite dropping the doubles point in each match due to No. 3 walkovers, the No. 1 tandem of Campigotto and Dotse provided Barton's lone doubles victory on the weekend with a 6-3 victory over Colorado College's Ally Lowe and Aspen Young.
Sitting at 1-1 on the young season, the Cougars will continue the road trip Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 against Bethal College.
