The 4th ranked Barton Community College women's tennis team saw its' nine game winning streak snapped this past weekend to 6th ranked Saints of Seward County Community College dropping a tightly contested 6-3 match Saturday afternoon in Liberal, KS.

The Cougars lost two of three doubles matches as No. 3 Angelina Gnezdilova and Hailey Vinroe secured the lone victory for Barton knocking off 25th ranked Saskia Vogelzang and Lorena Torrico 8-6.

Singles play was unfriendly to the Cougars as the Saints notched four of the six matches with the lone victories coming in third set thrillers. No. 2 singles and 16th ranked Annunciata De-Souza scored a 5-7, 6-0, 6-4 victory over 23rd ranked Lucia Popluharova while 20th ranked No. 3 singles Natsuki Nishimura continued her strong season coming from behind edging out 14th ranked Chiara Matteodo in three sets 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Barton's next action will be at the NJCAA Division I Championships as the Cougars travel to Mesa, AZ, May 1-5 held at the Mesa Tennis Center.
