The Barton Community College women's tennis team took on a pair of four-year programs Friday at the Shannon Schartz Tennis Complex at Veteran's Park, defeating both Newman University and Fort Hays State University by 6-1 scores.

Ranked 5th in the latest national poll, Barton improves to 6-1 on the year heading into Thursday's conference opener in traveling to 4th ranked Cowley College for a 1:00 p.m. first serve.
