The No. 21 ranked Barton Community College women's tennis team won the top spots in Friday's dual with NCAA Division II Colorado Christian University but lost the match 6-3 at windy Great Bend's Veteran's Memorial Park tennis courts. The Lady Cougars drop to 2-4 on the season with their next match scheduled for Saturday, March 24, in a 2:00 p.m. first serve at Tabor College.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Neus Torregrosa and Sarah Hammer got the Lady Cougars off to a good start with an 8-2 victory over CCU's Julianne Soler and Maddie Anderson but the other two doubles squads came up short in 8-3 and 8-5 losses.
Torregrosa and Hammer also accounted for the lone singles victories as the No. 9 ranked Torregrosa nearly scored a shutout with a 6-1, 6-0, win over Ryanne Ritchey while Hammer outlasted Anderson in the No. 2 slot 6-4, 6-3.
