Eight program records fall as Barton Swimming wraps up fall season at Eagle Invitational #GoBarton

Barton Swimming Team at Eagle Invitational

Competing in their final meet of the fall season, second year Head Coach Matt Gilbert unleashed his Cougars this past week in Edmond, Oklahoma as the Barton Community College swimming programs hit 92 season bests, 87 personal bests, 64 new program top-10 marks and eight school records at the Eagle Invitational.

Contending as the lone NJCAA school in the three-day event, the Cougar men conducted a third-place finish tallying 726 points over the 36-events while their counterparts the Barton women returned home with a fourth-place finish accumulating a 478-point total.

Men
Six different school records were washed ashore by the Cougar men as individuals Netani Ross, Tyler Woodworth and Josias Solarte accounted for the trio of individual breakers with the other three falling in the 200-yard medley, 400-medley, and 400 freestyle relays.

Despite not winning an event over the three-day course, Barton pieced together 12 podium finishes, five runner-up performances and seven third-place finishes.

Ross and Johan Cue Carrillo produced Barton's highest finishes individually with second place performances in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard breaststroke respectively.

Jethro Irvine paced three Cougar men over the 40-point mark tallying a team high output of 44-points over six entered events. Ross and Solarte rounded out the top scoring for Barton adding in 42 and 40.

Kerr along with Cindy Broadrick patched the highest individual showings for Barton with runner-up finishes in the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard breaststroke.

The Cougars finished 2-3 in a pair of events as Dominique Cos and Kerr secured the first in the 100-yard breaststroke and Lierman and Franco respectively in the 200-butterfly.

Kerr led five different Cougars over the 40-point plateau combining for 47-points followed by Franco's 45, Broadrick's 43, Lierman's 42, and Cos 41.

The Cougars now will have an extended break before resuming their season on January 8th in a 1:00 p.m. dual against the University of Saint Mary's and Sterling College in Lansing, KS.
