Barton Swimming claims eight individual crowns at triangular #GoBarton

Barton Swimming Triangular Meet Result

The Barton Community College swimming programs competed in a three team triangular last weekend winning eight individual crowns. The Cougars went up against Iowa Central Community College in a live dual while competing virtual against Southwestern Oregon Community College and South Georgia State College.

The Cougar men posted a 2-1 record in the triangular with victories coming over South Georgia State College 177-53 and Southwestern Oregon Community College 152-102 while falling on the short end of the stick to Iowa Central Community College 147-114.

On the women's side the shorthanded Cougars dropped, all three duals to Iowa Central Community College 150-39, South Georgia State College 70-38 and Southwestern Oregon Community College 178-38.

Men's Recap
Sophomore Nikolas Ioannides and freshman Johan Cue Carrillo won two individual crowns each and were part of a runner up relay finish with Isaiah Auld, and Josias Solarte.

Ioannides turned in quick time in both distance events claiming the 500 freestyle (57.52) and 500 freestyle (4:55.36). Carrillo notched his two crowns in both breaststroke events in the 50 (25.74) and 100 (57.52).

Rounding out the final two of the six individual crowns were Kacper Mayerberg and Isaiah Auld. Mayerberg outlasted the 11 field in the 100 butterfly (54.03) with Auld securing the 100 freestyle (49.54).

Women's Recap
For the Cougar women, Fanny Courbot swam to a pair of individual titles claiming the 50 breaststroke (32.33) and 500 freestyle (5:48.71). Courtbot concluded her meet with a runner-up finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.30).

Freshman Sophia Ortiz swam to a third place showing in the 50 freestyle (28:13) and pair of fifth place finishes in the 50 butterfly (31.20) and 100 freestyle (1:03.33).

Barton will have a month off before returning to the pool against Iowa Central Community College on April 3 inside the Barton Pool.
