The Barton Community College swim teams competed the past two days at second annual Hendrix Invitational in Conway, Arkansas. Getting two victories on the weekend, the Cougar men finished third among the eight team field with the women placing sixth overall.

The Barton Community College swim teams competed Saturday at the Mustang Invitational in Sioux City, Iowa, as the young squad continued to post personal best times leading to a third place for the Cougar men with fourteen top-5 finishes while the ladies’ squad came in sixth overall.

A near four week layoff from competition didn’t slow down the Barton Community College swim teams, rather gave the young Cougars time to get stronger and faster as evident in a 3-1 record Saturday in a pair of duels held at Salina South High School against Tabor College and Midland University.

Friday marked a historic day in Barton Athletics as the men and women’s swimming teams made their debut, officially occurring in a double duel held in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The Cougars took on powerhouse and host Iowa Central Community College and Iowa Lakes Community College coming away with one victory to mark its inaugural season. The Cougar men scored their first win of the program’s history registering a 103-82 win over Iowa Lakes while also taking their first loss in a 122-71 score to the Tritons of Iowa Central. The Lady Cougars, swimming with just four athletes, fell 90-26 to Iowa Lakes and 133-15 to Iowas Central. The squads will continue their road trip swing with a 2:00 p.m. Saturday double duel in Liberty, Missouri, taking on William Jewell College and Midland University.
