Two goals in less than two minutes apart Wednesday evening handed the Barton Community College women's soccer team a 2-0 loss at 16th ranked Hutchinson Community College.
Having tied the Blue Dragons in their first season meeting in Great Bend and outshooting Hutchinson 20-7 including 9-5 on frame, the loss drops Barton to 5-5-3 for fifth place in conference play and 7-5-3 overall while Hutchinson moves into a third place point tie at 8-2-4 and 9-2-4 overall.
Next up will be Barton's third straight contest against a ranked opponent in welcoming 11th ranked Cowley College in the sophomore's final home contest at the Cougar Soccer Complex. Kick-off slated for 3:00 p.m. following the earlier 1:00 p.m. game of the Cougar men taking on the 8th ranked Cowley men.
The Hutchinson tandem of Haley Rogers and Katarina Marx accounted for both scores, Rogers' point-blank shot from Marx' feed with 18:11 left in first half action being returned 1:53 later as Marx put away Rogers' assist.
