14th ranked Barton women victorious 9-1 at Dodge City; Sato ties program record five assists and Norshie's four goals moves into 6th best all-time #GoBarton

Barton Women's Soccer result at Dodge City Community College

The 14th ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team took to the conference road Wednesday evening, returning from Dodge City with a 9-1 victory at Dodge City Community College.

The victory improves Barton to 2-0 in conference play and 6-1 on the season as Dodge City's conference opener drops to 1-1-1 on the year.

Barton's next two opponents will come to the Cougars' home turf beginning Saturday against Kansas City Kansas Community College followed by Wednesday's hosting of Cowley College. Kick-off times set for 3:00 p.m. for both contests.

Two Cougars had a pair of record book impacts in the contest, Rin Sato distributing five assists to tie for the most assists in a game while Nina Norshie added four net shakers bringing her season total to 24 in moving into the sixth slot of program single season goals.

The Cougars placed five in net during the initial forty-five minutes, the first coming on Aya Saiki's 20-yard blast from Sato's pass in the 26th minute to sneak inside near post for her 7th of the season.

Norshie, the reigning two-time conference player of the week, began her four goal evening with twenty-one minutes left in the half taking Sato's pass and delivering a 20-yard chip shot to the near post.

Dodge City native Alisia Solis registered her 2nd and 3rd goals of the year for the Cougars' next two goals, netting a penalty kick with 18:46 left then four minutes later slammed home the rebound from Sato's saved shot.

Sato delivered four of the Cougars' first half net shakers, the final one coming on a forward pass with just thirty-three seconds left setting up Norshie's 20-yard chipped shot over the leaping Dodge City keeper in wrapping up first half scoring.

It took just 3:35 for Barton to find the net in second half play as the 20-yard line continued to be the magic spot with Yulisa Valdez striking upper post for her second of the season.

Pin point passing set up Barton's seventh goal, Siaomee Bagnost connecting with Valdez who's chipped through ball put Norshie in a losing 1v1 situation for the Conq keeper.

Norshie completed her four goal afternoon with seventeen minutes remaining coming on a back post boot finishing off Ondine Manceau's perfectly placed corner kick for her sixth dime of the season.

Sato chalked up her fifth assist of the game with 10:31 remaining setting up Saiki for a 23-yd missile to the upper-90 for her second of the game and 8th of the year.  Sato's five assist feat tied the freshman with Flavia Bernardes (2009) and Yesenia Garcia (2008) for single game achievement, coincidentally each coming against Dodge City.

A Cougar turnover in the midfield of the 85th minute would lead to Dodge City's lone goal, setting up a forward pass and a breakaway sprint resulting in a far post net rattler.

Nia Baker improved to 5-1-0 on the year in net, guarding the pipes for the first 45 minutes, with reserves Ashley Melendez and Raianny Lopes sharing second half time.
