Barton women's soccer celebrates victory at KCK CC

Twice the Barton Community College women's soccer team struck in pairs to roll up a 4-0 victory Saturday at Kansas City Kansas Community College.

The Cougars launched eighteen first half shots, two finding their mark in less than twenty seconds apart before sending thirteen more shots airborne in second half play to rattle the net twice more within three minutes.

The sixth straight victory improves Barton to 6-1 in conference and 9-1 overall while KCK slides to 3-3 in both league and overall.

A battle for the top spot of the Jayhawk West looms next on the schedule as 16th ranked Cowley College (5-0, 6-0-1) comes to the Cougar Soccer Complex on Wednesday for a 1:00 p.m. kick-off.

Alisia Solis got the Cougars on the board twenty-two minutes into the contest, netting the freshman's 6th of year finishing off Nicole Thorp's team leading 6th assist.

Twenty seconds later team leading scorer Annika Gerdau delivered her 9th of the year giving Francesca Martellas' second assist of the season.

Leading 2-0 into second half play, Barton put two more on the board in a span of three minutes, both coming from the 1-2 combo of Marina Angiolini delivering her 2nd and 3rd net shakers of the year with Seulgi Lee chalking up her 5th and team tying 6th assist.

Nia Baker improved to 8-1-0 in frame for the Cougars, tending net for 80 minutes in rejecting three Blue Devil shots with Maria Gutierrez getting the final ten minutes on the turf.
