Barton women cruise to 2-0 victory at Garden City #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's soccer team rode a pair of first half goals Wednesday evening as the Cougars notched a 2-0 road victory over Garden City Community College. 

Winners of five straight, the Cougars improve their conference mark to 5-1-0 and overall record to 8-1-0 while the Broncbusters fall to 1-5-0 in league play and 4-6-0 on the season. Barton will return to the pitch Saturday against Kansas City Kansas Community College to close out its' season long three-game road trip with a 2:00 p.m. first kick.

Sophomore Dahien Cabrera got the scoring started with 20:27 remaining in the opening half cleaning up Alisia Solis blocked shot attempt for her second net finder in as many games.

Just over 10-minutes later, Barton's leading scorer Annika Gerdau extended the Cougar margin to 2-0 as the sophomore dialed up her ninth net shaker of the season off Nicole Thorp's thru ball sent in by Seulgi Lee's initial pass.

Holding a 15-0 shot advantage after the opening 45-minutes, Barton utilized the lineup in the second half backing away from the offensive pressure. The lone scare came in the 68th minute as Cabrera made a heads up play on the defensive end booting away Garden City's Miranda Cardona's rebound shot attempt following Maria Gutierrez punch out keeping the sheet clean defensively for the teams third shutout of the season.
