Barton rides trio of first half goals in 3-1 victory over Neosho #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's soccer team netted three first half goals on Saturday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex earning a comfortable 3-1 victory over Neosho County Community College.

The victory moves the Cougars to 2-1-0 in KJCCC play while improving to 5-1-0 on the season while the loss sends the Panthers to 0-4-0 in league play and 0-5-0 overall. Barton will look to make it three straight victories Wednesday afternoon as they welcome in Dodge City Community College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from the Cougar Soccer Complex.

Barton opened the scoring in the 16th-minute as Silvia Cinque blasted home her first goal of the season on a penalty kick after the sophomore was tackled down inside the box off Francesca Martella's through ball.

The Cougar margin grew to 2-0 just 2:26 later as Nicole Thorp's soft touch pass found Seulgi Lee's foot as the sophomore rattled the nets far post from just inside the 18' for her third tally of the season

With 5:01 remaining in the opening stanza, Cinque found the nets for the second time of the afternoon cleaning up Shivani Balram's corner cross giving Barton a 3-0 lead.

Just 18-seconds later Neosho caught the Cougar back line off guard as the Panthers entered into the scoring column on Lauren McKoon's quick far post strike coming off Emily Engelbert's through ball.

Battling the 25-mph south wind in the second half the Cougars' remained in attack mode despite not finding the back of the nets as Barton outshot Neosho 8-1 in the final 45-minutes.

The Cougars finished the contest outshooting the opposition 21-2 while holding a 10-2 advantage in shots on target.
