Barton Women's Soccer result at Southeast

The Barton Community College women's soccer team opened its 2021 campaign with an 8-1 road victory over Southeast Community College Thursday afternoon in Beatrice, NE.

Starting the season at 1-0, the Cougars will look to carry the momentum into Saturday's home opener against McPherson College with kick-off slated for 12:00 p.m. at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

Falling behind 1-0 succeeding a Storm penalty strike with 38:30 to play in the opening half, the Barton offense responded with vengeance scoring eight unanswered goals. Freshman Alisia Solis recorded a hat trick in the final 29:21 of the opening stanza before Annika Gerdau joined the scoring column seconds later sending the Cougars into the intermission break leading 4-1.

In the second half Barton kept the pressure on with returning First Team All-Jayhawk West midfielder Mercy Azanapo lighting the lamps to start a four goal second half frenze. Gerdau added the Cougars' second hat trick with a pair before Solis capped her impressive collegiate debut with her fourth blast rounding out the Cougars' scoring.
