Fagundes' four goals powers Lady Cougars snapping scoreless streak with 8-0 win at Garden City #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's soccer team broke through a three game scoreless streak in a big way Wednesday night with an 8-0 victory at Garden City Community College. The Lady Cougars increased their three goal first half lead with five in the final frame for their largest output of the season and first time on the scoreboard since August 24. The victory also puts Barton into the win column for the first time since that date improving to 1-1-1 in conference play and 2-2-2 overall while keeping Garden City winless on the year at 0-4 and 0-2 in Jayhawk play. Barton's next action will come Saturday traveling to Cloud County Community College for a 2:00 p.m. kick-off.

Larissa Fagundes added her name alongside ten other former Cougars in the 14th best single game goal output registering four net shakers in the game. Fagundes outdueled a couple Garden City defenders before rocketing far post giving Barton the early lead before adding another midway through the half. Hays freshman Tressa Becker increased the margin late in the half with a 30 yard shot for her first collegiate goal giving the Lady Cougars a 3-0 lead to halftime.

Scoring her first collegiate goal building the lead out to four early in second half action, Ariadna Ramirez buried Thamires Lima's first collegiate assist to the back of the net off a twenty-five yard left foot blast.

Fagundes struck for her final two goals coming in succession, the first going near post after after weaving through defense before sending a fifteen yard rocket near post on Jordan Bruner's 1st collegiate assist pushing the lead to six for the latter third of the game.

Barton would get two more collegiate firsts with Fagundes setting up the play sending a perfect through ball to Kayla Gokey whose one-touch cross to Bruner posted both the freshmen's first in assist and goal.

A Jessica Simental falling to the ground effort concluded the season's largest output sticking in the rebound from an uncleared corner kick with a left foot strike from outside the eight for the Texan freshman's second of the year.
